We Can Make A Difference:Together at Midnight by Jennifer Castle, Review

I've been a fan of Jennifer Castle since her first novel that I read The Beginning of After and when I had the opportunity to read Together At Midnight, I jumped at the chance and was not disappointed.

Together at Midnight starts off on a somber note when the main characters witness a brutal act and because of that struggle with moving on and end up preforming random acts of kindness to strangers. At first I struggled with my own idea of what I would do if I were in their position so it was and eye opening experience.

Kendall and Max are at similar crossroads in their life and thus they were easily relatable and I was quickly drawn into their experience. Together they seemed like this unbeatable duo that was on a mission to perform these random acts of kindness and as the story came along you witnessed them become more daring and their confidence soared. It was endearing and enlightening despite it's initial start. Yet, I wanted to see how far they would take this and thus this slower paced novel still kept me engaged. Especially the slow-burning romance is always a plus for me.

I recommend this book who favor a thought provoking read that will make you feel good and have you searching for the acts of kindness that you can give to strangers.

What does it really mean to be kind . . . and why does it sometimes feel like the hardest thing in the world to do? High school senior Kendall, who just returned from a life-changing semester in Europe, and Max, who is drifting his way through a gap year before college, struggle with these questions when they witness a tragic accident in New York City during the holiday season. Racked with guilt, the two accept a dare to perform random acts of kindness to strangers. The challenge pulls these two teens, who have a history together from back home, closer and closer as they explore a vibrant city filled with other people’s stories and secrets.

Kendall and Max can’t deny their growing bond, even though they both have other romantic entanglements and uncertain futures. As the clock counts down on New Year’s Eve, will they find themselves together at midnight?

  1. This is the second book I've read by castle and I thoroughly enjoying the characters she creates and the honesty of their actions and emotions.
