Dana Fields's father never knew his parents. When Dana secretly does a DNA test for her dad, hoping to find him some distant relatives for his birthday, her entire world implodes. Instead of a few third cousins, Dana discovers a half brother her age whose very existence means her parents' happy marriage is a lie.

Dana's desire to know her half brother, Brandon, and the extent of her dad's deception, clashes with her wish not to destroy her family. When she sees the opportunity to get to know Brandon through his cousin, the intense yet kind Chase, she takes it. But the more she finds out about Brandon, her father's past and the irresistible guy who'll never forgive her if he discovers the truth, the more she sees the inevitable fallout from her own lies. With her family crumbling around her, Dana must own up to her actions and find a way to heal the breach—for everyone—before they're torn apart for good.

If you are in the Bay Area, we expect to see you at NovCon, fawning over Abigail in person. Either way, check out our GIVEAWAY below!

Our third annual Young Adult Novelist Convention (YANovCon) is just around the corner on Saturday, January 27th from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Carlmont High School, right next to the Belmont Library. This free half-day celebration will include panel discussions, author hangouts, and book signings with the following YA novelists (and more!):

Not only will you get to learn more from your favorite authors about their writing and publishing process, we are also working to highlight the social justice themes these authors incorporate in their work. We’re encouraging participants to look for ways they can help make the world a safe space for everyone.
Books will be available to purchase on site thanks to our wonderful partnership with Books Inc.!
YANovCon is going to be bigger and better than ever before so we highly recommend you RSVP. Not only will this help us plan for participants, you’ll also be entered to win free books!

  1. I read a fantastic family-orientated book this year called Greetings From Witness Protection! by Jake Burt.

  2. Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills had a family I wanted to be part of of.

  3. I have no idea, I usually read books with a singular character trying to make it in life. No family dynamic or missing family.I should read some family books but I would need recommendations for that.

  4. I really gave this a lot of thought and came up nearly empty-handed. I read so much YA and the family is often non-existent (or awful, and not worth mentioning) but I always think of one: To All the Boys I've Loved Before series by Jenny Han. There's such a great family dynamic in those books. Thanks! :)
