Audiobook Review: CROWN OF WISHES by Roshani Chokshi

It's rare when a book surpasses it's predecessor and leaves me wanting more but the audiobook of A CROWN OF WISHES by Roshani Chokshi accomplishes that and so much more. It's an epic tale as magical as it is action-packed and narrated with such realism  and depth of emotion that you will be hard pressed not to close your eyes as you get whisked away to far away lands of dreams and wishes.

A CROWN OF WISHES is a strong sequel, with a slightly different pace than the original but yet still lushly imaginative as Chokshi's elegant writing style is showcased yet again. I was so happy to see Gauri and Vikram join forces and enter in the tournament of wishes, so that they could become champions and have their heart's desire. They both have a lot riding on this championship and they must learn to trust in eachother, pass each challenge, and somehow find a way to beat the odds and leave the otherworld together.

It's this otherworld that Chokshi has created that I am completely enthralled with for  it is as beautiful as it is frightening and so wonderfully descriptive. The romance and witty banter between Gauri and Vikram keep the story light and make them so much more relatable and I only wanted to witness more between them.

Crown of Wishes is an engaging story of mesmerizing magic beautifully read by Priya Ayyar, a very talented narrator. I loved listening to this audiobook. Not only did the story carry me away to far away lands but the narrator had the perfect pitch and emotion to make this story jump from the page and into my imagination where it took flight and soared.

If you are a fan of audiobooks and want to get lost in a fantastical journey than this is the audiobook for you. Make sure to listen to the first novel THE STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN and you will not be disappointed. ENJOY!!

A Crown of Wishes
A beautiful, lush fantasy from the author of The Star-Touched Queen.

Gauri, the princess of Bharata, has been taken as a prisoner of war by her kingdom’s enemies. Faced with a future of exile and scorn, Gauri has nothing left to lose. Hope unexpectedly comes in the form of Vikram, the cunning prince of a neighboring land and her sworn enemy kingdom. Unsatisfied with becoming a mere puppet king, Vikram offers Gauri a chance to win back her kingdom in exchange for her battle prowess. Together, they’ll have to set aside their differences and team up to win the Tournament of Wishes – a competition held
in a mythical city where the Lord of Wealth promises a wish to the victor.

Reaching the tournament is just the beginning. Once they arrive, danger takes on new shapes: poisonous courtesans and mischievous story birds, a feast of fears and twisted fairy revels.

Every which way they turn new trials will test their wit and strength. But what Gauri and Vikram will soon discover is that there’s nothing more dangerous than what they most desire.

  1. Great review, Nancy! I ADORE Roshani's writing. It is absolutely stunning. I've read TSTQ and Death and Night, but am going to try to get to this one next month. Definitely on audio. :)

    1. Audio is the best way to go with this series. It is so well done. I love the narrator's voice

  2. I am glad that I have found this site. My friend 7dollaressay reviews recommends me to visit this site as we both are fond of romantic books and novels. Now, I am thinking how it is felt, not to read but listen to a book.
