Celebrating The Takedown with Fav Bookstagrams (+GIVEAWAY)

Welcome to the first day of The Takedown blog tour! If you haven't seen this gorgeous book,  you might not know it's a mystery novel set in the hacker world. So we thought we would start the tour off by showing you some of our favorite Instagrams of the book (and don't forget to check out Christy's over at her Instagram!).

Book: 🎆The Takedown🎆 Author: Corrie Wang Release Date: 4/11/17 (SOON!) Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️(3/5) Genre: Future/Realistic Fiction Movie Screen Rating: R if the video in question is shown. Otherwise PG-13 for profanity. Where: I got it at a BFYA conference, pre-release. Overview: Kyla Chang, the main character, is popular. Gorgeous French-Chinese, on track to be valedictorian, volunteer, perfect friends, perfect guy following her around. But somebody has it out for her- so this mysterious hater releases a video of Kyla "doing it" with her young English teacher. It instantly goes insanely viral in this future-set world completely ingrained with technology, but here's the thing- it's not Kyla in the video. In a rush against time (her life is literally falling apart- a week before college apps, losing friends, trust, even her "worshipped" high school track and her promising future in government), she rushes to take down an impenetrable video in the midst of drama. Review: If you like teen drama books, teen romance, or even future set tech books, this book is for you. The new tech seems weird at first, but you will get used to it. Also, be prepared to be frustrated with Kyla with the whole Mac thing. She's stubborn. Another thing that bothered me a bit was the whole searching thing- it seemed a little drawn out and there was SOOO much drama, but I guess that's just the genre. I didn't give this a very high score because, honestly, this just isn't my type of book. Overall, this book is good and keeps you reading- a good page turner. Lots of plot twists- I liked that. Even though this is a v serious cover, I couldn't help my excitement over getting this cool ass prop of my Instagram😍😍 Big thanks to @disneybooks for sending me The Takedown by Corrie Wang! • "A week before college applications are due, a video of Kyla "doing it" with her crush-worthy English teacher is uploaded to her school's website. It instantly goes viral, but here's the thing: it's not Kyla in the video. With time running out, Kyla delves into a world of hackers, haters and creepy stalkers in an attempt to do the impossible—take something off the internet—all while dealing with the fallout from her own karmic footprint. Set in near-future Brooklyn, where privacy is a bygone luxury and every perfect profile masks damning secrets, The Takedown is a stylish, propulsive, and provocative whodunit, asking who would you rely on if your tech turned against you?" • Doesn't this sound amazing?! #TheTakedownBook

Kyla Cheng doesn't expect you to like her. For the record, she doesn't need you to. On track to be valedictorian, she's president of her community club, a debate team champ, plus the yummy Mackenzie Rodriguez has firmly attached himself to her hip. She and her three high-powered best friends don't just own their senior year at their exclusive Park Slope, Brooklyn high school, they practically define the hated species Popular. Kyla's even managed to make it through high school completely unscathed.

Until someone takes issue with this arrangement.

  1. This book could be "ripped from the headlines" today. I love contemporary and this character has much in common with my high school experience as far as the academics goes. I love the mystery and have to read this book.
