100% Less Stems - SerendipiTea Tour with Kristin L. Gray (+GIVEAWAY)

We are so excited to be part of the SerendipiTea Tour because look at the authors (and bloggers!) who are part of it. Plus, who doesn't love a great tea? We are here with Kristin L. Gray and her recent release, Vilonia Beebe Takes Charge.

Get to know Kristin

Kristin L. Gray drinks coffee (cream, no sugar) and writes books (funny, not sad) from her home in northwest Arkansas. She loves to read, walk her dogs, and eat cake for breakfast. She will also travel any chance she gets. Kristin’s fourth-grade self would never believe she has five children, two dogs, one fish, a bearded dragon, and a shy gecko. Vilonia Beebe Takes Charge is her first novel.  Webpage | Twitter | Instagram | Facebook

Tell us about your tea!

Sun-ripened berries blended with the slight herbal essence of basil lends this tea a unique, yet comforting taste. Brew up a batch of this delicious iced tea for your next party for a summer treat that is sure to be popular.

Mmmm! It sounds tasty! How does it fit with Vilonia?

Vilonia makes her “world-famous, strawberry-infused tea” in the book and hilariously forgets to remove the stems from the berries. So by the end, she recommends serving her “new and improved with 100% less stems” tea alongside her Mama’s award-winning homemade pound cake. (Cake recipe included in the back! So you too can have stemless strawberry tea with Vilonia’s favorite cake.)

Did you say CAKE? We are so on board. Do you take your cake with tea?

My entire family loves hot tea (ginger peach is a current favorite), but I prefer my tea iced. My mother was known to have friends drop by for her sweet iced tea. What can I say? I grew up in the South. So taking a page from my mom, I sometimes make up a big pitcher to keep in the fridge, always ready for company. Which let’s face it, my company is usually a motley crew of thirsty kids.

Being responsible is NOT easy.

Fourth grader Vilonia hasn’t lost her rain coat in the three weeks she’s had it, and she’s brushed her teeth every night and she’s volunteered to be the Friday Library Helper. But all that hard work is worth it if it means she can get a dog. Besides, this dog isn’t just because Vilonia has wanted one for pretty much ever. It’s also to help Mama, who’s been lost in one, big sadness fog for forty-three days—ever since Nana died. But Vilonia read that pets can help with sadness.

Now all she has to do is keep the library goldfish alive over spring break, stop bringing stray animals home, and help Mama not get fired from her job. And she’s got to do all of it before the Catfish Festival. Easy as pie, right?
