One kiss lasts a moment.
But a thousand kisses can last a lifetime.

One boy.
One girl.
A bond that is forged in an instant and cherished for a decade.
A bond that neither time nor distance can break.
A bond that will last forever.
Or so they believe.
When seventeen-year-old Rune Kristiansen returns from his native Norway to the sleepy town of Blossom Grove, Georgia, where he befriended Poppy Litchfield as a child, he has just one thing on his mind. Why did the girl who was one half of his soul, who promised to wait faithfully for his return, cut him off without a word of explanation?
Rune’s heart was broken two years ago when Poppy fell silent. When he discovers the truth, he finds that the greatest heartache is yet to come.

My Thoughts:

Forget the box of Kleenex. I needed a truckload. A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole. Where can I begin with a story that completely destroyed me. That turned me into a sobbing, utterly inconsolable mess? NO LIE!! in all my years, with all the ugly cry books that I have read, and there has been plenty, never have I cried as much as I have with this book.

Before I had picked up A Thousand Boy Kisses I had heard that it was a bit of a tearjerker, but that it was a stand alone read and that it had an HEA. So, I was like "cool" I could use a bit of cathartic tear shedding and so I dove into it. Needless to say that I could not get past reading the first chapter because I cried so much that I literrally could not see my book and not matter what I did I just could not reign it in. I gave it some time and I tried to go back to it and had no luck, so I decided to purchase the audio book version. Now, you may ask why I would bother if I cried so much? But, that is the magic I would say, of this book. I have never read anything by this author but I know with a certainty that I would read her other books for she is a great story teller. I loved it and could not stop devouring it. She has the ability to bring you into a story, claim your heart and soul and leave you forever altered.

“Closing his eyes, Rune took my mouth in a kiss. And in this kiss I felt his outpouring of love. I felt a love, that at seventeen, I was blessed to have received. A love that knew no boundaries. The kind of love that inspires music that lasts through the ages. A love that should be felt and meant and treasured.”

Poppy and Rune's love story begins with a clandestine meeting, children set on an adventure that takes on a different direction once Poppy receives a jar full of paper hearts from her grandmother with very specific directions. Then their story moves forward a few years and you see how those two are made for each other. A love that is pure and deep and beautiful to behold. I am so pleased that the author made their true love valid and proof that "forever love" can be found at a young age.

“I don’t think, in all my life, that I’ve ever seen two kids love each other so hard so young, and even harder as teens.”

Yet, with anything in life, their love is tested. Greatly tested and what we witness is in return is something heart breaking and unforgettable. Poppy's never failing faith and strength and Rune's unwavering loyalty and love, both of their love's create something so beautiful that you will not be able to forget them.

"Kiss eight hundred and nineteen was the kiss that changed it all. The kiss that proved that a long-haired brooding boy from Norway and a quirky girl from the Deep South could find a love to rival the greats."

If you ever want to read a story that makes you believe in soul-deep, true love for infinity and beyond than this is that book! Forget Hazel and Augustus! Eleanor and Park, who? It's all about Poppy and Rune and their undying LOVE! Their story is intensely powerful and simply put, beautiful. I may not have been thoroughly pleased with this couple's HEA but it did make me sigh and then cry and cry some more.

“This isn’t the end. It’s just a little pause in our lives. And I’ll be watching over you, every single day. I’ll be in your heart. I’ll be in the blossom grove that we love so much, in the sun and the wind.”

I believe that music can have a powerful impact and the soundtrack to A THOUSAND BOY KISSES created by Tillie Cole will just add more tears. Bring on the FLOOD GATES of tears!!
