Nancy's WoW

This week my WoW is STALKING JACK THE RIPPER by Kerri Maniscalco. I am always an ardent fan of dark and mysterious reads and this books sounds like it hits all the my reading joys and it's a gender flip story so, I am all in like slim jim. I cannot wait to dive into this read.

In this spine-chilling gothic murder mystery set in gritty Victorian-era London, an intrepid society girl finds herself inescapably embroiled in the investigation of a ghastly serial killer known as Jack the Ripper.

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story's shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

Christy's WoW

While I am also waiting on Stalking Jack the Ripper (because HELLO, how eery does that book sound?!), my WoW this week is THE TELLING by Alexandra Sirowy. I am a big fan of mystery/thrillers (could ya tell with the Boldly Bookish coverage last week?) and The Telling seems right up my alley. I recently won an ARC on Twitter so I'll be sharing my thoughts with you all later this summer.

Lana used to know what was real.

That was before when her life was small and quiet.

Her golden step-brother, Ben, was alive, she could only dream about bonfiring with the populars, their wooded island home was idyllic, she could tell the truth from lies, and Ben’s childhood stories were firmly in her imagination.

Then came after.

After has Lana boldly kissing her crush, jumping into the water from too high up, and living with nerve and mischief. But after also has horrors, deaths that only make sense in fairy tales, and terrors from a past Lana thought long forgotten: Love, blood, and murder.
