The comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey. In My Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help.

At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about. Jane gets to be Queen of England.

My Thoughts:

Long live the Queen! MY LADY JANE was a pleasure to read. It was a fanciful tale of Lady Jane Grey with an alternative historical twist of her brief reign of the English monarchy. This book was as comforting as a good cup of tea while also inducing a bit of frivolous laughter that buoyed my spirits. Jodi Meadows, Brodi Ashton, and Cynthia Hand have created reading magic with this book and you will finish wishing that this story had more truth to it then actual history.

Once I began reading MY LADY JANE I could not stop reading it and in the process I was left breathless with gut inducing laughter. Lady Jane Grey was such an interesting historical figure and it always pained me that she met an early demise. So, to read this tale with a bit of a magical twist brought a huge smile to my face.  Especially since I was skeptical about how this was all going to work but I needn't worry.

What makes this story work so well is the witty dialogue that just makes you simply laugh out loud.

"Number one: no touching my books. Number two: no chewing on my books...Number three: I will never find hay in my books"...

"Very funny, my lady. And that reminds me"--he pointed a finger at her--"no horse jokes."

He was making it too easy. "Ah, my lord, why the long face?"

"That's it!" After a frantic look around the room, he grabbed a book from the nightstand..."I don't recall you mentioning anything about bending the spine of a book."

Alarm filled her. "Put down the book." ...she couldn't take her eyes off the book. What if he hurt it? What if he followed through with his threat?

"No horse jokes," he said

"My lord, I apologize for the horse joke. If you put down the book--unharmed!--I will give you a carrot."

He brandished the book at her. "Was that a horse joke?"

"Neigh."

"Was that a horse joke?"

If that bit of dialogue doesn't convince you I don't know what will. This book is perfect for anyone that enjoy's historically outrageous movies like Monty Python and The Princess Bride.

The authors of MY LADY JANE shared a bit of good news in regards to a possible movie venture on their website www.ladyjanies.com

MY LADY JANE is on its way to being made into a movie!

Now everybody take a deep breath, because we have to clarify that the book is in the very beginning stages of this process, and having your book being made into a film is a long and difficult road. It could be a really long time. Or it could be never.

But still. . .

Ridley Scott's company, Scott Free, is currently working on the development of MY LADY JANE for the big screen.

This is crazy exciting news to us. We love Ridley Scott's films so much, and we're completely thrilled and honored to have his name attached to our book!

Come back on Saturday for our event recap and giveaway!!
