TOP 10 OF 2014: Best Books I’ve Read in 2014

Today begins the week of looking back so let's begin with the BEST BOOKS I'VE READ IN 2014 as previously posted (Doesn’t have to be released in 2014, just a book you’ve read in 2014).

This list was not an easy one for because I had a bit of a change in direction of my reading preferences and I began to read quite a bit of New Adult reads. This change has caused my reading library to expand like crazy and so this list was the most challenging to narrow down.

Make sure to stop by tomorrow to see what my favorite book covers of 2014 are.

1. SEA OF TRANQUILITY by Katja Millay
This book....ahhh this book invaded by heart and soul and I could not stop thinking about it long after finished reading it. Two broken people that become whole by being together. Beautifully brutal with an extraordinary cast of unforgettable characters.

2. THE BOOK OF LIFE by Deborah Harkness
This novel was simple breathtaking with all loose ends coming together and tying up in such a manner that I did not want this book to end. Such a fantastic and brilliant ending to a fascinating series.

3. I'LL GIVE YOU THE SUN by Jandy Nelson
Jandy is one of my favorite writers because she can illicit feelings in me that I did not know I even had. This novel made me ugly cry like you would not believe but it is so beautifully executed that you will want to read it again and again.

4. THE KISS OF DECEPTION by Mary E. Pearson
This novel had me completely ensnared from the very beginning and I could not put it down. The who, what, who mystery of this read was pure genius and I loved how I could not guess it correctly.

5. RULE by Jay Crowover
One of my very first reads in the New Adult genre and I was completely hooked. This great read of book candy made me so happy that I quickly devoured the rest in the series and I found a new author to fangirl over.

6. ISLA AND THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER by Stephanie Perkins
This novel took years in the making and I was not dissappointed, in fact it exceeded my expectations. It was filled with romance and such longing that my heart still aches with it.

7. UGLY LOVE by Collen Hoover
More like ugly cry over a storyline that frustrated me and broke me in equal measure. Initially I thought I would not enjoy it but i was so sucked into it that I almost suffocated on the amount of tissue I used.

8. IN HER WAKE by K.A. Tucker
Ugly cry to end all ugly cry reads. This novel broke me down like no other and although it is the prequel novella to Ten Tiny Breaths I would HIGHLY suggest reading it after Ten Tiny Breaths otherwise you might not move forward. I know that it sounds strange but this novel is so dark, so very brutal that I literally will rob you of the will to move forward but it is because you know what happens in Ten Tiny Breaths that you are allowed to go on.

9. JACKABY by William Ritter
I adored this book because of the unique element that gives this quirky novel it's edge. A sherlock holmesish style of read with a paranormal edge that I am constantly told is very Dr. Whoish...not that I know what that means but I take it to be a good thing.

10. IN THE AFTERLIGHT by Alexandra Braken
I held off on reading this series until some good friends insisted that I give it a try and I finally finished the last novel today and I must say that It was brilliant with this last novel making me happy.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

JUST ONE NIGHT by Gayle Forman
This series was so good but the ending on Just One Year just about killed me so when this lovely novella gave me everything I wanted I think I went into a book coma of happiness.

LICK by Kylie Scott
A sexy rocker and one night forgotten that leads to marriage....um yes I would love some more please and Kylie Scott gives you such an adventure that you cannot help but fall in love with all of the members of this band.

GATHERING DARKNESS by Morgan Rhodes
This novel had me glued to ever page and made me fall in love with fantasy reads all over again. More please

CRASHED by K. Bromberg
I read all three novels back to back and was HOOKED....so hooked that I literally did nothing but stay in bed all day devouring them. Although book two made me crazy I am glad to say that this novel made wickedly happy.
