Book 3: Blue Lily, Lily Blue
There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up.

Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs.

The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost.

Book 1: The Raven Boys
Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue never sees them--until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks to her. His name is Gansey, a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can't entirely explain. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul whose emotions range from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She doesn't believe in true love, and never thought this would be a problem. But as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she's not so sure anymore.

Book 2: The Dream Thieves
Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after....

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Entertainment Weekly has called Maggie Stiefvater, “one of the finest YA novelists writing today.” Maggie Stiefvater is a writer, artist, and musician and the New York Times bestselling author of Shiver, hailed by Publishers Weekly in a starred review as, “a lyrical tale,” and by BookPage as, “beautifully written, even poetic at times, and a perfect indulgence for readers of all ages.” There are more than 1.8 million copies of the Shiver trilogy in print. Since publication, rights to thirty-six foreign editions of Shiver have been licensed. Linger, the second book in the Shiver trilogy, debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list. In addition, The Scorpio Races was named a 2012 Michael L. Printz Honor Book by the American Library Association and a New York Times Notable Children’s Book. Time Magazine called, The Raven Boys, Book #1 in Stiefvater’s latest New York Times bestselling series The Raven Cycle, “A flirtier kind of horror-fantasy, aimed at teens clutching tattered Twilight and Sandman paperbacks....Stiefvater’s quirky prose has ample nerdy pleasures.” Stiefvater lives in Virginia with her family.

THE TAROT
The tarot is a divination system that uses a deck of cards to gain insight. Most decks are comprised of 78 cards divided into the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana, with each card being symbolic of an energy or spiritual truth. The Major Arcana are known as the “trump cards” because they impart messages of greater weight and significance than the Minor Arcana.

The Raven Cycle Tarot Tour features the Major Arcana, with each stop on the tour revealing one of the 22 cards as designed by Maggie Stiefvate and will use that card to reveal the past, present and future of The Raven Cycle series.

NOW ARE YOU READY FOR THE TEMPERANCE CARD REVEAL?

HERE
IT
IS

Temperance is card number 14, and represents sensibility, balance, health and moderation.

Do you see both sides of an argument? Can you lead adversarial parties toward a middle ground? Have you recently discovered the value in sharing control? Is your recovery something that has brought you to a happy medium in life? Are the days of excess behind you? The Temperance card is the Tarot's way of indicating that peace will not be arriving, because you already have it within you. When you are in that even place away from the harsh side of things, you will find that peace, and in unleashing it, exert the greatest amount of control over your world with the least amount of effort you could ever imagine.

Ahhhh! My poor heart! The Temperance card clearly indicates the peace and harmony are attainable for Blue and her Raven Boys. The goal is within reach, a balance...but at what price?

PAST: The past has indicated to these Blue and the boys that peace and harmony have been a difficult thing to attain. At times it has been very attainable and then others it has been a fleeting gesture but that they should not give up and that if anything they should search for the answer within themselves.
PRESENT: Many actions have been made to keep things balanced but the grip on this control is tenuous at best and the sacrifice of Blue and Gansey has exhibited the most heartache. Everyone has a role to play, a price to pay, but is it enough?
FUTURE: What could the TEMPERANCE card mean for the fourth and final book in The Raven Cycle series? Could this card be talking about Gansey? Blue? Ronan? or another character that has not yet appeared? What must be sacrificed to maintain the balance of things? Only time will tell....

  4. I love how the series is ever evolving, and i'm terribly attached to Blue & Ronan's friendship. It makes me so happy. :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. I really do not have a favorite thing about this book because that would be acknowledging that some things are inferior to others, and that simply is not true. SO EVERYTHING.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I love the language of the book. ALSO, I love Ronan.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The character development and the relationships and friendships that develop between them :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Longing. All the characters long for something more. Life, meaning, they all want to make a difference in the world.

  10. Maggie's writing! It is just so lyrical and unique! :D<3

    ReplyDelete
  11. I love the characters and Maggie's writing style.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I love the very different personalities of the boys and Blue, and how they each bring something integral to the group. Without one of them (any one of them), their quest would be in vain b/c they cannot succeed without each other. Oh, and Ronan just for being Ronan.

    ReplyDelete
  13. RONAN and all his angsty snark. Also Maggie's words are incredibly potent!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Gansey of course <3 But I love all the characters too along with the magical aspect of it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I love all the characters, but especially Blue and her quirky family, and Gansey. Always Gansey.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I love how Ronan is able to pull things out of his dreams.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Probably all the mysticism and psychic-ness. Also RONAN LYNCH.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I haven't read this series yet but I did love her Shiver series. Everyone has been talking about these books so I can't wait to read them. Thanks for this giveaway!

  20. There are so many things I love about it, including the characters and her writing which I've said in previous comments this month. But I realize I also love the interaction between characters, especially Helen and Gansey, Blue and Jesse, Adam and Persephone, Ronan and Calla, and Noah and everybody.

  22. I love the way Maggie balances the comedy with her amazing "show don't tell" skills for the actual plot

    ReplyDelete
  23. Five incredibly detailed and believable central characters. Who else can pull that off?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love everything about the series, the magic, the funny moments, the suspense at times...but if I had to pick one thing it would be the relationship between the main characters. I love how their friendships are imperfect, yet it is evident how much they all care for each other.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I love the mystery of it and the fact that I don't know what to expect! Especially that Maggie captures that dream effect and makes the reader wonder

    ReplyDelete
  26. RONAN.

Actually, I love so much about this series. No one does prose like Maggie Stiefvater. Also, I not only love the slow burn of Blue/Gansey, I love the dynamic of the entire group. I love Calla. I LOVE JESSE DITLEY. I love Chainsaw. I love never knowing what is going to happen next because the story is so original.

    Basically, I love everything.

    ReplyDelete
  27. RONANNNNNN. Okay no, that's not a real answer, even though it's mostly true. But I also just love the relationship between the main characters. The plot is great and interesting and wonderful, but my favorite thing to read about is the interaction between the Raven Boys and Blue, to watch their relationships develop and grow and just... yeah. I love them.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love everything about these books, but if I had to barrow it down to one thing I'd say I love the characters, especially the main group. Watching our little band of brothers become closer and closer as we the readers and they the character get to know each other better and better is as magical as Cabeswater.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love the mythology! And Gansey and Ronan!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I haven't read this series yet, but I have been wanting to for a long long time. But the premise is really intriguing and I have heard only good things about it. I love mythology, so that is a plus.

    ReplyDelete
  31. What I like most about the Raven Boys series is Ronan, Noah, the mystery, and humor.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love how original this series is! There is nothing else like it!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. My favorite part about the Raven Boys has to be Blue's relationship with her mother and aunts.

    ReplyDelete
  34. This is the part where I tell you I just can't decide for the life of me. Fucking Ronan LYNCH. All the fantastic Welsh lore. Every single character, from the incredible women of 300 Fox Way to Adam's INCREDIBLE CHARACTER GROWTH AHHH not to mention everyone's development, and Noah's non-development (wamp wamp).

    ReplyDelete
  35. Maggie is an amazing artist! I wish I had half as much talent!

    ReplyDelete
  44. The complexity of the characters and the interactions between them. Especially Ronan!

    ReplyDelete
  45. EVERYTHING!!!! But really. Especially: the way she weaves in magic and normal everyday life, Ronan Lynch, the character development and growth, Ronan Lynch, the amazing descriptions, Ronan Lynch...I could go on

    ReplyDelete
  46. I love that my feature co-host loves them so much she has been begging me to read them. As soon as my December pub date ARCs are finished they are very near the top of my must reads tbr pile. Winning the books would be primo and I would gift the tarot cards to my co-host because she is such a supportive friend. Thanks for this fab giveaway contest. :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I like that they are four main characters, and it's done really well. They are all unique and get a balanced amount of time in the story. I also love how Maggie Stiefvater's style. Her descriptions are unique and beautiful, but also sometimes they are crass and funny.

    ReplyDelete
  49. How to pick just one thing? This is the most compelling character driven plot I've come across in a while and I just love all the character growth!

    ReplyDelete
  50. It's always going to be the relationships for me. I love the way they all work together, and sometimes against each other.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The friendship, the relationships. how close and bonded they all are! And Maggie's writing style and skill is amazing. She's what pulls it all together to make an awesome story even better by how it's written!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well, I've only read the 1st book so I'm trying to avoid spoilers and I reserve the right to change my mind later... but I loved the truly surprising twist with Noah, and also Blue's general attitude!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love how the magic of the story and the characters feels as if its coming off of the pages onto your fingertips. Maggie is an amazing author. Love this series.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love the characters. The story is also so original and different from anything I've read. But I love the characters the most.

    ReplyDelete
  55. The characters, the writing, the story... I love it all! I just love how connected I feel to it all and how sad I get when one ends. :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. I love Maggie's writing style, like she handpicks each word carefully and nothing is meaningless. I love her characters and how dimensional and strong they are, especially Blue. I love the relationships and the story. I love everything about this series!

    ReplyDelete
  57. The Glendower history and the hunt.

    ReplyDelete
  58. The rich, layered writing and how ridiculously TRUE the characters are!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I like reading about the friendship between Gansey, Ronan, and Adam. Also, how they spend most of their time searching for Glendower.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I love how well written the characters are & how we get to see some changes from them :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love the mythology/history/welsh lore. I also love Blues mom and aunts, I think they're the most fabulous supporting characters I've ever read!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  65. Blue and Gansey's "relationship." Dying for the next book!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I love pretty much everything about it! But, one of the reasons why it's my favorite series is Blue and her relationship with the boys and her family. <3

    ReplyDelete
  67. I haven't read this series yet but I am looking forward to it. It has a unique concept. Thanks for the chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I haven't started the series yet but this is definitely one of the coolest tours I've followed. Love tarot so this was right up my alley.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I love the idea of being able to take objects out of dreams!

    ReplyDelete
  70. The characters and the mythology.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I love The Raven Cycle because it is everything I could look for in a book: Magical, down-to-earth, intriguing, heartbreaking at times, and the characters are so well built and full of imperfections it's hard not to love them. Maggie knows best how to tell about a Welsh King while also struggling with every day life, and it's all magical inits own way :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I think Ronan is my favorite thing about the series. Ok, Ronan and the Pig. It's a tie :)) They're both so temperamental and adorable :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. The characters are the strongest point for me! Ronan in particular.
