Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

About Claudia:
Claudia Gray is a pseudonym. I would like to say that I chose another name so that no one would ever learn the links between my shadowy, dramatic past and the explosive secrets revealed through my characters. This would be a lie. In truth, I took a pseudonym simply because I thought it would be fun to choose my own name. (And it is.)
I write novels full-time, absolutely love it, and hope to be able to do this forever. My home is in New Orleans, is more than 100 years old, and is painted purple. In my free time I read, travel, hike, cook and listen to music. You can keep up with my latest releases, thoughts on writing and various pop-culture musings via TwitterTumblrPinterestGoodreads or (of course) my own home page.
If you want to contact me, you can email me, but your best bet is probably to Tweet me. I don’t do follows on Twitter, but I follow everyone back on Tumblr, Pinterest and Goodreads.

 INTERVIEW

1. What can you tell my readers about A Thousand Pieces of You?

A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU is about Marguerite, the daughter of two famous scientists, who is chasing her father's killer thru alternate dimensions. In every world, she leaps into another version of herself and must learn who she is there. As she travels, she also encounters other versions of all the people around her, and as she sees all their possible fates, she learns that they're far more complex than she realized ... as is the truth about what happened to her father.

2. How did you approach the concept of time travel in A Thousand Pieces of You? What system (if any) did you employ to keep you on track especially considering that this is a series?

There's no time travel! Marguerite only travels through alternate dimensions/universes/quantum realities. Some of the worlds have advanced farther, technologically speaking, while others lag behind -- so sometimes it seems as though Marguerite has gone into the future or the past. But really, it's just the different rates of change in each world at work.

That said, it made it tricky to keep track, because if Marguerite leaped out of, say, London, and then reappeared somewhere half a world away, I had to make sure that the times would line up! I spent a lot of time on "World Clock" websites typing in things like, "When it's 5 a.m. in Perth, Australia, what time is it in ..."

3. Your previous novels all have a paranormal element what made you decide to take on sci-fi novel?

I've always loved scifi, too. Basically, if it's weird, I'm into it. To me they've always seemed like two sides of the same coin -- heightened realities, deeper senses of metaphor, and a love of the fantastical.

4. How did you come up with the unique concept for this parallel worlds adventure read? I appreciated how you made this story a lot less confusing than other novels that i have read in the same vein and it's the first sci-fi read that I truly enjoyed.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! (And that it wasn't confusing.) Honestly, the idea came out of a book tour I was on with two other authors -- it seemed to me that I was waking up in a new world every day, but with the same people. Something about this idea kindled for me, and all of a sudden I couldn't stop thinking about what it would be like to shift between dimensions, but always be yourself, leading another version of you life. Instead of being a mere visitor or observer, Marguerite is truly thrown into these other lives she could have led, which allows me to put her in some pretty intense situations ...

5. In A Thousand Pieces of You your characters travel through several parallel worlds, which "world" is your favorite so far? and why?

So far? The Russiaverse. I think it's the most dramatic -- and the most romantic -- at least, so far. :D

6. What does the Firebird look like and do you have a mock up drawing of it that you can share with me?

I have no drawing! Though I've scoured Etsy and Pinterest, and found several almost-sorta-right concepts, I have yet to see something and say, that's IT. The Firebird is irregular in shape, but roughly oval; it's smaller than the average cell phone, but larger than a credit card. The surface is made of multiple metals, so it is silver, gold, bronze and copper in different places. Someday I hope to find its likeness online, or see a great fan design!

7. Let's play word association :)
Marguerite -- color
Firebird -- adventure
Paul -- rock
Theo -- fire
Dacha (I could not help myself) - passion

:D

8. Is there a world that you would like Marguerite, Paul and Theo to visit but that it could never make it into the series?

Well, between you, me and the whole internet, I think it would be very, very interesting for Marguerite to find herself with Paul and Theo in a world that practices polyandry. Ahem.

9. If you could cast the characters of Marguerite, Paul and Theo for a movie with ANY actors from the past or present, dead or alive whom would you choose?

I *always* cast younger versions of current adult actors -- I don't know why, but I do! Anyway, I think the younger Michael Fassbender has that alchemical mix of danger, silence and vulnerability that would work well for Paul. Marguerite -- Keira Knightley and Emma Watson are too glam, but she's that type, if you know what I mean. And absolutely the perfect casting for Theo would require us to leap into a TARDIS, go back to 1987, and pick up the young Robert Downey Jr. That is him to a T!

10. Can you tell us what you are working on next? (the next novel in this series, please) TY!.

I've actually just finished the second novel in the series! (And I had *even more fun* with the parallel universes this time, which I hadn't realized could even be possible.) As for what's next ... can't tell you right now, but soon. :D

I thought it was well written the only thing for me is I had it figured out right away what was happening for alot of what was going on don't want to give spoilers but there were a few shockers.
