Ask Aria Morse anything, and she must answer with the truth. Yet she rarely understands the cryptic words she‘s compelled to utter. Blessed—or cursed—with the power of an Oracle who cannot decipher her own predictions, she does her best to avoid anyone and everyone.

But Aria can no longer hide when Jade, one of the few girls at school who ever showed her any kindness, disappears. Any time Aria overhears a question about Jade, she inadvertently reveals something new, a clue or hint as to why Jade vanished. But like stray pieces from different puzzles, her words never present a clear picture.

Then there’s Alex, damaged and dangerous, but the first person other than Jade to stand up for her. And Will, who offers a bond that seems impossible for a girl who’s always been alone. Both were involved with Jade. Aria may be the only one who can find out what happened, but the closer she gets to solving the crime, the more she becomes a target. Not everyone wants the truth to come out.

1. Using the phrase, "this is a story about...," supply five words to describe Ask Me.
This is a story about…(an) unwilling oracle and a sociopath.
2. Which character in this book (main or secondary) did you enjoy writing about?

I had the most fun writing Porter, Aria’s granddad.

3. What inspired you to write Ask Me? and did you have a inspiration board i.e. pinterest

Yes, I kept a Pinterest board at

My original take off point was the idea of a girl with a great power that she felt she couldn’t control; something that other people might think they would want but she couldn’t wait to get out of.

4. What is your favorite line in Ask Me?

Oh, wow. I’ve never even thought about this. I honestly have no idea. That sounds terrible, but I really have no idea what I would pick in probably any of my books. I guess that’s kind of strange since I can think of lines in other people’s books I would pick out as favorites. I’m going to have to think about this one! What about you? Did you have a favorite line?

5. If Ask Me were turned into a motion picture and you had control over whom would be cast. Who would you pick?

I’ve yet to come across a perfect Alex, but for Aria I lean toward India Eisley or Hailee Steinfeld. Will would probably be Alex Black or Alex Pettyfer. I’m still open to suggestions though!

6. What is your inspired you to become a writer?

I’ve always written. I don’t think there was ever a single thing that inspired me. I just always had to write. I can’t not write...if I didn’t, I think my head would explode.

7. Do you have soundtrack that you played during the time that you wrote Ask Me and could you share that with me?

All of the books that make up the chapter headings were the songs I listened to while writing. You can see a list at

This book was all about the music for me. I’m actually amazed that I’m not sick of those songs yet!
