LIV, FOREVER Blog Tour: Guest Post with Amy Talkington

Today on Tales of the Ravenous Reader I have the pleasure of being a host on the LIV, FOREVER blog tour. When I was approached to be a host on this tour I was elated because LIV, FOREVER by Amy Talkington is such a achingly beautiful read and I was haunted by it's story long after it was read. At time, LIV, FOREVER reminds me of the movie "Ghost" and it's character Gabe Nichols brings to mind Oda Mae Brown which was my favorite character. So, it brings a smile to my face that Amy shares with us her "vision" of Gabe and I will share vision also.

Amy Talkington's vision for GABE

Every school has the odd man out—that guy that just seems a little bit off—and for Wickham Hall that guy is Gabe. But, Gabe is much more than just the weirdo on campus, he has a gift that makes him the only one capable of solving the mystery of Wickham’s past. Though Gabe may seem unapproachable at first, he eventually proves himself as a loyal and dedicated friend. I think Ezra Miller (surely you remember him from The Perks of Being a Wallflower) would be a perfect Gabe. Unafraid to stand out in the crowd, harboring a dark secret, feeling insane, and willing to put himself out there for a friend—Ezra Miller can pull all that off.
He keeps his head up high despite whispers and suspicions all around him.
He has a perfect “Are you serious?”/“You want me to do what?!” look.
There’s a sweetness to him that you can only see if you look past the mop of hair. Sadly, only Liv does…at first.

My vision for GABE -  Alden Ehrenreich
While I was reading LIV, FOREVER only one person came forth in my mind when I think of Gabriel "GABE" Nichols and that is Alden Ehrenreich. This character embodies a unique combination of  sweetness and an tough unwillingness to conform making him a loner in a place where the right connections are paramount. Yet, it is his unique gift that proves the most useful in solving Liv's murder. I think that Alden has that haunted look in his eyes that make him a perfect Gabe.
Despite his reluctance he will go to the ends of the earth for those he loves, and thats big especially when certain apparitions scare the pants off him.
His eyes showcase so much pain and longing
This image reminds me of a certain scene in LIV, FOREVER and I had to use it and I hope it encourages you to read this wonderful novel that will stay with you for a long time.

When Liv Bloom lands an art scholarship at Wickham Hall, it's her ticket out of the foster system. Liv isn't sure what to make of the school's weird traditions and rituals, but she couldn't be happier. For the first time ever, she has her own studio, her own supply of paints. Everything she could want.

Then she meets Malcolm Astor, a legacy student, a fellow artist, and the one person who's ever been able to melt her defenses. Liv's only friend at Wickham, fellow scholarship kid Gabe Nichols, warns her not to get involved, but life is finally going Liv's way, and all she wants to do is enjoy the ride.

But Liv's bliss is doomed. Weeks after arriving, she is viciously murdered and, in death, she discovers that she's the latest victim of a dark conspiracy that has claimed many lives. Cursed with the ability to see the many ghosts on Wickham's campus, Gabe is now Liv's only link to the world of the living. To Malcolm.

Together, Liv, Gabe, and Malcolm fight to expose the terrible truth that haunts the halls of Wickham. But Liv must fight alone to come to grips with the ultimate star-crossed love.

Amy Talkington is an award-winning screenwriter and director living in Los Angeles. Before all that she wrote about music for magazines like Spin, Ray Gun, Interview, and Seventeen (mostly just as a way to get to hang out with rock stars). As a teenager in Dallas, Texas, Amy painted lots of angsty self-portraits, listened to The Velvet Underground and was difficult enough that her parents finally let her go to boarding school on the East Coast. Liv, Forever is her first novel.
