Sixteen-year-old Moe's Shoplifters Anonymous meetings are usually punctuated by the snores of an old man and the whining of the world's unhappiest housewife. Until the day that Tabitha Foster and Elodie Shaw walk in. Tabitha has just about everything she wants: money, friends, popularity, a hot boyfriend who worships her...and clearly a yen for stealing. So does Elodie, who, despite her goodie-two-shoes attitude pretty much has "klepto" written across her forehead in indelible marker. But both of them are nothing compared to Moe, a bad girl with an even worse reputation.

Tabitha, Elodie, and Moe: a beauty queen, a wallflower, and a burnout-a more unlikely trio high school has rarely seen. And yet, when Tabitha challenges them to a steal-off, so begins a strange alliance linked by the thrill of stealing and the reasons that spawn it.

Hollywood screenwriter Kirsten Smith tells this story from multiple perspectives with humor and warmth as three very different girls who are supposed to be learning the steps to recovery end up learning the rules of friendship.

Hayley's Thoughts:

Trinkets is a silly, yet refreshing book that gives you a reality check on how teenagers are today. It's one of those books that can easily become your guilty pleasure. It's almost criminal not to read it!
Trinkets is one of those seemingly impossible stories where three girls with three totally different lives are brought together by fate. In this case fate is Shoplifters Anonymous. The book is written from each girls perspective in the forms of poems, diary entries, and inner dialog. It's amazing to see these three girls with three totally different lives, social cliques, and families come together and become best friends. Even though the only thing that connects them is their competitive nature and shoplifting. And whats a good friendship with out a little competition? Even if you're competing to see who can steel the best stuff without getting caught.
Kristen Smith has found an amazing way to make you believe that a princess, a punk, and an outcast could become best friends. I was surprise that when I finished the book I actually believed that it all happened. It seems like the most unlikely trio of friends at your average high school, but Kristen Smith does a fantastic job at making you believe that this is totally normal and true! This book is definitely a real steal ;)

Sneak A Peek Saturday: TEARDROP by Lauren Kate

Sneak a Peek Saturday is a feature that I like to indulge in because I cannot wait to read the tasty tid bits that are put out there for us ravenous readers to enjoy.

This week I am most pleased to showcase TEARDROP by Lauren Kate. This novel seems to have it all; a killer synopsis and a most gorgeous cover. It makes me wish that I could have it in my hands right now, and I bet you feel the same way. In the meantime enjoy this excerpt and I hope it satiates your appetite.

Never, ever cry...

Eureka Boudreaux's mother drilled that rule into her daughter years ago. But now her mother is gone, and everywhere Eureka goes he is there: Ander, the tall, pale blond boy who seems to know things he shouldn't, who tells Eureka she is in grave danger, who comes closer to making her cry than anyone has before.

But Ander doesn't know Eureka's darkest secret: ever since her mother drowned in a freak accident, Eureka wishes she were dead, too. She has little left that she cares about, just her oldest friend, Brooks, and a strange inheritance-a locket, a letter, a mysterious stone, and an ancient book no one understands. The book contains a haunting tale about a girl who got her heart broken and cried an entire continent into the sea-and something about the story is uncannily familiar.

Eureka is about to discover that the ancient tale is more than a story, that Ander might be telling the truth... and that her life has far darker undercurrents than she ever imagined.

A magical romance between a boy cursed with invisibility and the one girl who can see him, by New York Times bestselling authors Andrea Cremer and David Levithan.

Stephen has been invisible for practically his whole life — because of a curse his grandfather, a powerful cursecaster, bestowed on Stephen’s mother before Stephen was born. So when Elizabeth moves to Stephen’s NYC apartment building from Minnesota, no one is more surprised than he is that she can see him. A budding romance ensues, and when Stephen confides in Elizabeth about his predicament, the two of them decide to dive headfirst into the secret world of cursecasters and spellseekers to figure out a way to break the curse. But things don’t go as planned, especially when Stephen’s grandfather arrives in town, taking his anger out on everyone he sees. In the end, Elizabeth and Stephen must decide how big of a sacrifice they’re willing to make for Stephen to become visible — because the answer could mean the difference between life and death. At least for Elizabeth.

My Thoughts:

INVISIBILITY is a novel that is both beautifully romantic and magical while hosting a storyline that is wickely dark and frightening. This novel is the perfect amalgamation of well known authors Andrea Cremer and David Levithan and I read it in one sitting and was left clamoring for more. There better be more....

INVISIBILITY is told from dual points of view between Stephen and Elizabeth, teens both living in the same apartment building. Elizabeth is a recent transplant from Minnesota after a tragedy that tears her family apart. Stephen is reclusive and quiet, a prisoner of circumstances....a curse that was bestowed upon him by his very on grandfather. Yet, despite his entire life being unseen by anyone Elizabeth seems to see him quite clearly and Stephen's world is rocked to it's very core. Then Stephen confides in Elizabeth of his malediction,  and together they devise a plan to find the answers to his cure.  But they soon realize that they are in greater danger than they ever thought possible. Stephen's grandfather is back in town and time is running out.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed INVISIBILITY for it was just the perfect type of contemporary read with a supernatural twists that is always a joy to witness. Initially when I saw the term Cursecasters and Spellcasters used I immediately thought of another series but that was quickly brushed away as the storyline became further involved. And although I enjoy INVISIBILITY and it's contemporary paranormal edged story line what really knocked me off my feet was the budding romance between Stephen and Elizabeth.  Both were misfits in their own right but together they made sense, they complimented one another and it was beautiful to witness.

" I should be happy. Most of the time I am. Most of the time happy isn't enough of a word to describe how I feel. I lose myself in Stephen without being lost. I find myself in Stephen when I didn't know I was there waiting to be found."  Chapter 8, Page 87

It is moments like that that made my chest tighten and an audible sigh would escape my lips and I would end it on a smile.  Although Stephen and Elizabeth command most of the story line there are some characters that deserve a mention. One of them is Elizabeth's brother Laurie, he provides a bit of heart and the comedic relief that he gives INVISIBILITY is priceless. Then there is Millie the spellseeker, the teacher and  voice of reason who firmly grounds the supernatural element of this story and helps the doomed pair.

INVISIBILITY is the perfect read for everyone because it has the best elements anyone can want in a story; action, mystery, romance and some of most beautiful words put together to make you just melt and shiver. I highly recommend this book and hope that there are many more to follow.

The unthinkable has happened. Vincent is doomed to roam the earth as a wandering spirit unless Kate can discover the truth behind an ancient ritual. Kate must ask herself: what is she willing to sacrifice to bring back her beloved? The answer: everything.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a truly original paranormal mythology and a captivating story that was praised for its “lush Parisian setting and gorgeous characters,” by Publishers Weekly. The sequel, Until I Die, thrilled readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a major cliff-hanger that Kirkus said would “compel readers to the final book in the trilogy.” Now If I Should Die brings this trilogy to a satisfying, surprising, and bittersweet end.

My Thoughts:

Amy Plum returns with IF I SHOULD DIE, the final installment in the Revenants trilogy.  This novel bursts with pulse pounding non-stop action, breath taking locations, hot guys and moments of sheer romance that will make you sigh "oh la la"

I was sad to read the last book in this series simply because I adore it but my need to find out what was going to happen to Vincent overruled everything. So I picked up IF I SHOULD DIE and I was quickly swept into this fast paced read and I could not stop myself from devouring it in one sitting. As I returned to this world of undead fueled romance and mystery I witnessed Kate defy the rules, challenge the enemies and fight for the man she loves and it was kick ass brilliant.

Amy Plum was able to wrap up this storyline by infusing Divinci Code type elements and ancient lore while including a plot twist of epic proportions that totally floored me. I was satisfied with how everything was resolved and was sad to see this story end because it has some of my favorite fictional characters.  What girl can resist Jules? I know I cannot.

IF I SHOULD DIE is a must read for the fans of this series and for those that have not read The Revenant Trilogy yet. Well you need to get on it and you will not be disappointed.

I could have had a love like that with Vincent. I had felt it. There had been something right about us: It that was bigger than just two people in love. When we were together, it had been like one of nature’s true and rare beauties;: like that an impossible beam of sunlight piercing through black clouds, bathing the patch of earth before you in gold. Together, Vincent and I had created something beautiful. page 63

Amelie Bennett. . . . Ending the world, one prophecy at a time.

I was born to slay Crossworld demons.

Big black flappy ones, little green squirmy ones. Unfortunately, the only thing getting slain these days is my social life. With my high school under attack, combat classes intensifying, and Academy instructors dropping right and left, I can barely get my homework done, let alone score a bondmate before prom.

Then he shows up.

Jackson Smith-Hailey. Unspeakably hot, hopelessly unattainable, and dangerous in all the right ways. Sure, he’s my trainer. And okay, maybe he hates me. Doesn’t mean I’ll ignore the wicked Guardian chemistry between us. It’s crazy! Every time I’m with him, my powers explode. Awesome, right?

Now my teachers think I’m the murderous Graymason destined to bring down our whole race of angelbloods. Everyone in New Orleans is hunting me. The people I trusted want me dead. Jack and I have five days to solve the murders, prevent a vampire uprising, and thwart the pesky prophecy foretelling his death by my hand. Shouldn’t be too difficult.

Getting it done without falling in love. . . that might take a miracle.

Danger intensifies for the Shadowhunters as the New York Times bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy comes to a close.

If the only way to save the world was to destroy what you loved most, would you do it?

The clock is ticking. Everyone must choose.

Passion. Power. Secrets. Enchantment.

Danger closes in around the Shadowhunters in the final installment of the bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy

My Thoughts:

This review is going to be short and sweet because I know I could never give CLOCKWORK PRINCESS it's due justice. I have been a long time fan of Cassandra Clare and am always astounded at how she can completely stun me, take the rug from underneath my feet and leave me emotionally spent. And you know what? I would eagerly come back for more.

As I cracked open my book and settled in for the night my chest constricted knowing I would soon have to say goodbye to these beloved characters and fascinating world that had become a favored reading series.  I was immediately consumed by it's storyline and before I reached the last word I had experience a myriad of emotions, many of which had my ugly crying into mounds of tissues.

So, here I am post afterglow and all I can say that Cassandra outdid herself with CLOCKWORK PRINCESS. A most fitting ending to a phenomenal series and a perfect example at how a love triangle should be written. I adore this novel for all that it is worth and It is for this reason that I do not want to ruin it for anyone because I believe that this novel should be enjoyed and not spoiled.

CLOCKWORK PRINCESS is a substantially sized novel, so turn off the phone, make a pot of tea and settle in for the night because you will not want to stop and I highly recommend a box of tissues because you will need it.

But with every clue only comes more questions. And she’s running out of time to answer them.
Her only hope is a strangely alluring boy who claims to know her from before the crash. Who claims they were in love. But can she really trust him? And will he be able to protect her from the people who have been making her forget?

Review: ELEANOR and PARK by Rainbow Rowell

"Bono met his wife in high school," Park says.
"So did Jerry Lee Lewis," Eleanor answers.
"I’m not kidding," he says.
"You should be," she says, "we’re sixteen."
"What about Romeo and Juliet?"
"Shallow, confused, then dead."
''I love you," Park says.
"Wherefore art thou," Eleanor answers.
"I’m not kidding," he says.
"You should be."

Set over the course of one school year in 1986, ELEANOR & PARK is the story of two star-crossed misfits – smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love – and just how hard it pulled you under.

Eleanor is the new girl in town, and she's never felt more alone. All mismatched clothes, mad red hair and chaotic home life, she couldn't stick out more if she tried. Then she takes the seat on the bus next to Park. Quiet, careful and - in Eleanor's eyes - impossibly cool, Park's worked out that flying under the radar is the best way to get by. Slowly, steadily, through late-night conversations and an ever-growing stack of mixed tapes, Eleanor and Park fall in love. They fall in love the way you do the first time, when you're 16, and you have nothing and everything to lose. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, Eleanor and Park is funny, sad, shocking and true - an exquisite nostalgia trip for anyone who has never forgotten their first love.

Have you ugly cried so hard that you are just one hot mess of emotions? Well that is precisely what happened to me when I read ELEANOR and PARK BY Rainbow Rowell. This beautiful story between two intelligent and offbeat teens that are jinxed from the start but make perfect sense together. I cried and laughed and cried some more but will never forget them, ELEANOR and PARK forever!

Once I began reading ELEANOR and PARK I could not seem to stop for I was immediately drawn into their story especially since it came from their alternating POV's. From the moment that Eleanor came into the scene she stood out for the wrong reasons but she didn't care. She was fluffy, tough and eccentric yet oddly vulnerable and once I understood her story I could not help but admire her. Park on the other hand was on the fringe of popularity, smart, handsome but completely adrift in his comics and music...until he saw Eleanor. Their initial encounter was anything but love at first sight yet you knew that there was something truly special between them and as the days passed and their hearts opened I was treated to some of the most heart warming moments that I can never forget.

One of things that I enjoyed most about ELEANOR and PARK was it's era, 1986 before a time of cell phones and PC's, where communication was done on a more personnel level. This fact created a mood of longing and desperation that truly made this story work even more. The music, that was such an integral part of their story because it meant so much more back then. Going back to that time was nostalgic but It was done in a subtle manner that was well appreciated.

Some of the most difficult moments to read was of Eleanor's home environment. Her poverty, abusive step-father and lack of self esteem all so heartbreaking.  At times it was so frustrating and very distressing and I would be left screaming in frustration.  UGGGGG!!! ...but despite how things are for Eleanor her relationship with Park made it all fade away when they came together. It is like the world blurred and went out of focus while they became sharp and oh so clear. Their feelings towards each other were beautiful and honest and it shone through so that I could not see anything else. I attribute this all to how evocative and moving certain moments passed between, even the simple action of holding hands was taken to a completely different level.

ELEANOR and PARK is a fantastic story and Rainbow Rowell did a magnificent job of not only creating a love story between two memorable characters but she also wrote some of the best dialogue that I have witnessed in a long while. I still get all teared up at times just thinking about certain moments between Eleanor and Park and had to include one my favorite's that I adored.
"You don't like me..." he said, leading her, pressing the base of the phone into his lowest rib.
"I don't like you, Park," she said, sounding for a second like she actually meant it. "I..."--her voice nearly disappeared--"think I live for you."
He closed his eyes and pressed his head back into the pillow.
"I don't think I even breathe when we're not together," she whispered. "Which means, when I see you n Monday morning, it's been like sixty hours since I've taken a breath. That's probably why I'm so crabby, and why I snap at you. All I do when we're apart is think about you, and all I do when we're together is panic. Because every second feels so important. And because I'm so out of control, I can't help myself. I'm not even mine anymore, I'm yours, and what if you decide that you don't want me? How could you want me like I want you?"
After reading that passage how could you not want to read ELEANOR and PARK? I'll forewarn you that this book does not end in a neat and pretty package but it does offer a promise of hope and new beginnings and that is what made me smile despite my tears.

Although you may ugly cry and run through a box of tissues you will love this book and sorely miss those two characters when you finish the last word. Oh my foolish beating heart. I am so madly In love with this book, ridiculously "in love" to point that I want everyone to share In this joy. READ THIS BOOK NOW!!  ELEANOR and PARK is for anyone that loves a great contemporary read or a book that is simply amazing.

Sneak A Peek Saturday: GAME by Barry Lyga

Sneak a Peek Saturday is a feature that I like to indulge in because I cannot wait to read the tasty tid bits that are put out there for us ravenous readers to enjoy.

OH MY! Just the idea of this book just gives me the proper chills. I was addicted to I HUNT KILLERS and found it to be a fascinating read. Utterly terrifying and captivating and GAME is just as creepy.

Billy grinned. "Oh, New York," he whispered. "We're gonna have so much fun."

I Hunt Killers introduced the world to Jazz, the son of history's most infamous serial killer, Billy Dent.

In an effort to prove murder didn't run in the family, Jazz teamed with the police in the small town of Lobo's Nod to solve a deadly case. And now, when a determined New York City detective comes knocking on Jazz's door asking for help, he can't say no. The Hat-Dog Killer has the Big Apple—and its police force—running scared. So Jazz and his girlfriend, Connie, hop on a plane to the big city and get swept up in a killer's murderous game.

Both the stakes and the body count are higher in this suspenseful and unstoppable sequel from acclaimed author Barry Lyga.
