In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what's left of the modern world. When a group of people capture Penryn's sister Paige, thinking she's a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels' secret plans, where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can't rejoin the angels, can't take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

My Thoughts:

Ever since I finished ANGEL FALL by Susan Ee I was left pining for this next installment and I wanted....no, needed to know what would happen next. And once I got my hands on WORLD AFTER I was gone to world and days later my mind is still buzzing from reading this book but it's a great buzz.

WORLD AFTER picks up directly where ANGEL FALL left off with Penryn and her unique family finally being together again. Yet, despite their much sought after reunion things are far from perfect; Penryn has a few issues with initially being "dead" and her sister is a living Frankenstein doll while her mother is still mental but it is this colorful clan that makes this story wicked insane and that is what I love most about this series.  I also adore the fact that this series is set in the bay area that I live and work in.

I truly enjoyed witnessing Penryn evolve in this story and how she was able to handle one crisis to another. She is strong and fearless in the face of the enemy but she is also compassionate and kind to those that need it. Then the inevitable encounter with Raffe occurs and it was everything I could have asked for.....but I do wish for a more romantic edge to their relationship but I understand the restraint.

I like the fact that this story moved at a pace that was quick and that it wretched up the intensity from once scene to another. I was never bored and just when I think I could not be surprised a few plot twists and turns would come along and shake things up.  YES!! ANGEL FALL is the great follow up to it predecessor and fans of this series will be pleased with this newest endeavor by Susan Ee. If only we could get the next novel now!
