SHADOW OF THE MARK BLOG TOUR: GUEST POST + GIVEAWAY

Their love could destroy them all.

Through the ages, Marked Ones have harnessed the powers of the four elements: Water, Fire, Earth, and Air. Much about the elements is shrouded in mystery, but one thing is certain: A relationship between two Marked Ones has the potential to cause widespread devastation.

Megan and Adam—Air and Water—are determined to defy the risks.

But the power that swirls inside Megan is growing in twisted ways. And the closer she is to Adam, the closer Megan comes to unleashing a dark force that could spell destruction for the entire Marked line.

Leigh Fallon was born in South Africa, raised in Dublin, Ireland and moved to Cork in her 20's. While living in beautiful Kinsale, her novel, The Carrier of the Mark was conceived. She promptly abandoned her 'riveting' career in corporate treasury and discovered Inkpop, a website for budding writers of teen fiction. Within weeks her manuscript hit the coveted top five spot and was reviewed by an editor at HarperCollins. A few emails and some hysterical screaming later, she signed her first deal. Leigh and her family now share their time between Ireland and the US.

GUEST POST

I asked Leigh Fallon to let us know if she had a choice which of the elemental powers would she enjoy having the most and why?

Picking which element I’d like to be is a difficult one. Each element has something really alluring about it. Fire is kind of sexy. There is that whole element of danger, the smoldering darkness mixed with more emotional warmth side. It appeals to me much like Earth does. Earth is nurturing. There is something comforting about the element, a protective Mother Nature thing that connects you to the world as a whole. The earth element is in tune with everything.

The Water element is slightly different to Earth and Fire. It’s cooler, freer. When I think of the water element, I think of escape, gentle guidance, and tenderness. Water is also the most powerful force of nature and one of the most dangerous when at it’s most powerful. It’s the most visually stunning of the elements, but it can be erratic.

I think the element I identify most with is Air. To me, Air is the ultimate freedom. I often imagined myself as the air element while writing the Carrier series. There were times when I’d stand on the edge of the cliffs on Cork coastline and imagine the feeling of control while the brisk wind from the Atlantic ocean whirled around me. There’s something so liberating in the movement of air. Hearing nothing but the pulse of your heartbeat and the power of the air whip around you. You feel your lungs filling with cold salty air as your face beings to prickle from the chill of its touch. For that moment, anything and everything seems possible. The power that Megan has would be truly amazing. That moment at the end of Carrier of the Mark where she feels the call of the Air, I’ve felt like that. I wonder what I’d do if it called upon me. I’d be tempted to just go with it. Imagine the possibilities?
