With the Brotherhood persecuting witches like never before, a divided Sisterhood desperately needs Cate to come into her Prophesied powers. And after Cate's friend Sachi is arrested for using magic, a war-thirsty Sister offers to help her find answers—if Cate is willing to endanger everyone she loves.

Cate doesn't want to be a weapon, and she doesn't want to involve her friends and Finn in the Sisterhood's schemes. But when Maura and Tess join the Sisterhood, Maura makes it clear that she'll do whatever it takes to lead the witches to victory. Even if it means sacrifices. Even if it means overthrowing Cate. Even if it means all-out war.

In the highly anticipated sequel to Born Wicked, the Cahill Witch Chronicles continue Cate, Maura and Tess's quest to find love, protect family, and explore their magic against all odds in an alternate history of New England.

My Thoughts:

Star Cursed by Jessica Spotswood is the perfect second book in a trilogy. Fast paced and full of plot twists and turns that left me gripping my book for dear life. Star Cursed is not only amazing but better than it's predecessor and a welcome breath of fresh air.

Cate has the odds stacked against her with evil brothers, devious sisters and a forbidden romance. At the end of Born Wicked Cate Cahill decided to forgo her marriage and give up her true love to become part of the sisterhood and save her family.  But what she encounters there is a house divided, full of secrets and Cate is left feeling further frustrated and useless as the brotherhood increases their "witch hunt" tactics and more fall prey to their terrorizing inquisitions. Helpless to the world crumbling around her Cate wishes for her latent powers to manifest but what happens next surprises them all.

I thoroughly enjoyed STAR CURSED a bit more than it's predecessor BORN WICKED for not only was I able to understand Cate better but I was able to further explore the sisterhood that I found fascinating. This world of sisters is still mysterious and forbidden enough to make me fear for them and everything they stand for while eagerly anticipating their next big move. I adored seeing Cate and Finn together if only for brief moments because I so hated how things ended between them and it was a nice reprieve compared to how I feel about Maura. I won't spoils things for you but let's just say that character makes me just want to knock the sense back into her and then some.

Oh my!! the feels...so many feels with this book. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Star Cursed is insanely good and it made me go crazy mad with anger to a love sick puppy in a matter of moments and I ate it up with a ravenous appetite. I could not get enough of this story that moved at a fast pace while steadily increasing the tension to the point that I was gripping my novel for dear life. Jessica Spotswood is a wicked genius and this novel has further solidified my adoration for her despite screaming my head off at the cliff hanger ending that practically broke my heart.

Fans of the BORN WICKED series will need to read STAR CURSED, ASAP. Seriously! you will not be disappointed and will be left clamoring for more, more and more.

  1. I really ned to read this series! I have been hearing really good things, but when it comes to a series, I'm always worried about whether or not the second wil succeed. But it sounds like this is a strong second book with good pacing. Great review :)
