Jacinda was supposed to bond with Cassian, the "prince" of their pride. But she resisted long before she fell in love with Will—a human and, worse, a hunter. When she ran away with Will, it ended in disaster, with Cassian's sister, Miram, captured. Weighed down by guilt, Jacinda knows she must rescue her to set things right. Yet to do so she will have to venture deep into the heart of enemy territory.

The only way Jacinda can reach Miram is by posing as a prisoner herself, though once she assumes that disguise, things quickly spiral out of her control. As she learns more about her captors, she realizes that even if Will and Cassian can carry out their part of the plan, there's no guarantee they'll all make it out alive. But what Jacinda never could have foreseen is that escaping would be only the beginning....

My Thoughts

HIDDEN by Sophie Jordan was an eagerly awaited read for me.  The final book in a trilogy that was unique, romantic and addictive and once I got it in my hands I eagerly devoured it.

As I returned to this series I was quickly plunged into the story moments after VANQUISH had ended. Jacinda has hatched a dangerous plan and while Cassian and Will protest they know it is the only way to save Miram. Needless to say, things go terribly wrong but not before Jacinda encounters several other draki members and with that the realization that their captors are way more sinister than originally perceived. Escape comes at a high price, but is she willing to sacrifice everything to pay it?

In the beginning I was quite taken in with the original concept, plot twists and non-stop adventure that this Firelight series embodied. And as the series progressed I was further pleased with how the storyline was deeper explored. So, I was prepared to have my socks knocked off with the series finale. Yet, I was a bit underwhelmed. While I did enjoy the introduction of new characters and the nail biting action, I was not totally pleased with the outcome for certain well known characters. I had hoped for things to progress in a different direction and am not convinced with a major plot twist that did not seem to make sense.

For fans of this series you just need to set aside a few reading hours because once you begin you cannot stop. Just be prepared for the unexpected.
