Galen, a Syrena prince, searches land for a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. It’s while Emma is on vacation at the beach that she meets Galen. Although their connection is immediate and powerful, Galen's not fully convinced that Emma's the one he's been looking for. That is, until a deadly encounter with a shark proves that Emma and her Gift may be the only thing that can save his kingdom. He needs her help--no matter what the risk.

My Thoughts:

In the past year there has been a plethora of paranormal underwater reads washing up on book shelves everywhere, but non have been as amazing as OF POSEIDON by Anna Banks. This debut novel is the most perfect Summer read, full of romance, laughs, mystery and non-stop adventure.

As I began reading OF POSEIDON I knew I was in for a great time because I was instantly hooked after reading the first paragraph.  I laughed out loud and adored Emma's inner dialogue of embarrassment and could not wait to see how this story was going to progress.  I was not disappointed especially when Emma proved to be a less than ordinary girl with the best amount of sass. The most memorable moments exhibiting that sass are whenever Emma and Galen together, especially when she is trying to understand her inherently blossoming abilities.  It is like a tidal wave of emotions crashing all around me and I only wanted more. That "more" came in the supporting cast that was spot on brilliant; from Galen's sister Rayna (also full of sass), his assistant Rachel (a woman with a questionable past) and Emma's take no prisoner's mother and together they made this story such a pleasure to read.

Although the ending held no surprise for me, I could not care in the least because this story was such a blast to read.  Fast paced with a storyline that was well depicted, I adored every wave of mystery, romance and pure comic relief that OF POSEIDON. I cannot rave about this book enough, and if you want a real treat you should listen to it on audible.

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
