Ethan Wate thought he was getting used to the strange, impossible events happening in Gatlin, his small Southern town. But now that Ethan and Lena have returned home, strange and impossible have taken on new meanings. Swarms of locusts, record-breaking heat, and devastating storms ravage Gatlin as Ethan and Lena struggle to understand the impact of Lena's Claiming. Even Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals is affected – and their abilities begin to dangerously misfire. As time passes, one question becomes clear: What – or who – will need to be sacrificed to save Gatlin?

For Ethan, the chaos is a frightening but welcome distraction. He's being haunted in his dreams again, but this time it isn't by Lena – and whatever is haunting him is following him out of his dreams and into his everyday life. Even worse, Ethan is gradually losing pieces of himself – forgetting names, phone numbers, even memories. He doesn't know why, and most days he's too afraid to ask.

Sometimes there isn't just one answer or one choice. Sometimes there's no going back. And this time there won't be a happy ending.
My Thoughts:

The wheel of fate, it crushes us all...

If you are a fan of the Caster Chronicles then you must read Beautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl immediately, because it is insanely amazing beyond comprehension. I adore this series and Beautiful Chaos is better than the first two books combined, making me want to consume it all over again.

As we return to Gatlin county and it's well known characters we are instantly aware that something has changed and it is not for the better, this once quaint town is slowly turning into ground zero for the Apocalypse. Since Lena's claiming a shift in the universe has occurred and no one is more aware of this fact than Ethan Wate. All of his life he has wanted see Gatlin from the rear view mirror of his car but now as his home town is being over run by evil he wants nothing more than to protect it and all it's inhabitants. Yet, despite this knowledge he and his core group of family and friends are unable to repair the damage and are helpless to the onslaught of heat, locust and demons that are slowly enveloping their lives. What will the wheel of fate have in store for all of them? and will Ethan figure it out before it is too late for them all?

What stands out most about this series are the characters that breath life into this story; Ethan, Link and Uncle Macon being my favorite but in reality I adore them all, even the evil ones because they are what makes this tale fascinating and memorable. I have always enjoyed every book in this series but BEAUTIFUL CHAOS has surpassed it's predecessors with it's non-stop action and heart stopping romance and amazing plot twists. My only complaint I have is that I could not seem to stop the tears from flowing upon finishing this novel. I was a hicupping, bleary-eyed mess that was the most scary sight to see.

From the moment I began Beautiful Chaos to it's tear inducing ending this book had my attention and I was it's willing captive. Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl were able to create magic with this epic story through their perfectly executed, well paced and vividly descriptive talents. Their efforts are epic story telling at it's stellar best and one could not ask for anything better in their reading pile. My life is richer for having had the pleasure of reading this novel and I highly recommend this series to anyone that has not been fortunate enough to read them.

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
