How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.

My Thoughts:

When I read about STARCROSSED last year I immediately placed it on my wish list and knew that I had to read it. I love Greek mythology and was beyond excited to see how it would be used in a YA paranormal read. Once it was in my hands I consumed it like nobody's business and am happy to say that I enjoyed it.

STARCROSSED is a great story filled with moments of mystery, suspense and a forbidden romance that will claim your attention. This story has an likable and interesting protagonist that you cannot help but sympathise with. At first you have an inkling that Helen has some powers that are well hidden and powerful, but they are not realized until she she sees Lucas Delos and then all kinds of madness breaks loose within Helen and she is suddenly at his throat. YIKES! not what you would consider love at first sight but it makes for a very interesting story and in that insane moment I was hooked. As the story progresses you learn about the Delos family and their lineage and thus Helen's mystery begins to unravel and what is discovered with keep you surprised and intrigued. Amongst the madness Helen and Lucas are inexplicitly drawn to one another, much to the chagrin of his family and that is when the true magic of this story gets really intersting.

I adore Greek Mythology and am so happy to finally read a story that really used those elements to create something that was a pleasure to read. I was so taken with the story that I was sad to see it end, but happy to know that there is more to come. I could not seem to get enough of Helen and Lucas, although I did get a bit turned off by all the reasons that would come up why they could not be together. Every time a challenge came up and was overcome another would take it's place and all I could think was Damn! This couple cannot catch a break, enough already!! With that being said I admit to eating up all the suspenseful drama that kept coming up and making me gasp in surpise and awe. I love it when a book can do that and still keep me reading. STARCROSSED may be a bit slow on its start but is surely makes up for it as the story picks up it's pace and you are sent on an adventure as tempestous as the furies.

STARCROSSED by Josephine Angelini, is a must read for the summer because it is filled with memorable characters that you will adore and a story that is unique, romantic and suspensful. If you are seeking a great paranomal romance then you have it all with this novel.
