  • The missing dead call to Violet. They want to be found.

Violet can sense the echoes of those who've been murdered—and the matching imprint that clings to their killers. Only those closest to her know what she is capable of, but when she discovers the body of a young boy she also draws the attention of the FBI, threatening her entire way of life.

As Violet works to keep her morbid ability a secret, she unwittingly becomes the object of a dangerous obsession. Normally she'd turn to her best friend, Jay, except now that they are officially a couple, the rules of their relationship seem to have changed. And with Jay spending more and more time with his new friend Mike, Violet is left with too much time on her hands as she wonders where things went wrong. But when she fills the void by digging into Mike's tragic family history, she stumbles upon a dark truth that could put everyone in danger.

    REVIEW

As I began reading DESIRES OF THE DEAD I was instantly reminded of how much I enjoy Kimberly Derting's engaging and spot on stellar writing style and it was not long before I was totally sucked into this story and devoured it in one sitting.

DESIRES OF THE DEAD begins a few months after THE BODY FINDER with Violet Ambrose and her extraordinary ability of sensing the echoes of those that had been murdered. These echoes come to Violet in a variation of ways and overwhelm her until she uncovers the source that has caught her attention. And in this story she discovers a body but since she is still afraid from her her last murder case she decides to approach the situation differently and this action brings the attention of the FBI to her doorstep. This is the last thing that Violet wanted, especially now that she and Jay are a couple and the rules seemed to have changed, she feels that she cannot confide in him of this new development for fear of him being worried about her. Yet, that is the least of his worries because someone has it out for Violet and they are making their hatred known. Now Violet is in fear of not only her life but of revealing her secret, but can she make the right decision before it is too late?

Ok! Can I tell you how much I adore Jay and Violet as a couple. They are one of my all time favorites, because their relationship seems natural and not forced or pretentious in any way. Their interactions are sweet, romantic and yes, sexy as heck. I could not get enough of them and kept going back to read certain of their moments together because I am a sap for romance and well....they are just that good together. There are also some new characters in this book that will keep intrigued along with the wicked plot twist and turns that will have you guessing up until the very end.

Desires of The Dead by Kimberly Derting is one of those jigsaw puzzles of a read whose pieces slowly snap together creating a smart and nail biting suspense story with each page that is turned. After I finished the last few pages I was completely floored and all I could say was "DAMN, I totally did not see that coming." I love it when a book can do that to me, and how I after finding out this week that Kimberly has been contracted for two more books I want those books, like right now.

If your looking for a suspense novel that has the perfect amount of mystery and suspense, combined with one of the most endearingly romantic couple's around then DESIRES OF THE DEAD is that book. And if you have read Kimberly's previous book THE BODY FINDER than you know what I am talking about and if you have not, then you seriously need to. This series is fantastically amazing and recommended for teens and adults alike.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Kimberly Derting earlier this week and if you go HERE you can read that interview and enter in a chance to win signed copies of her books :)

    1. I can't wait to get back into this story. I loved Jay and Violet too - such a great couple. So great to see a natural and non-jerk pairing in YA paranormal. Loved them! Excellent review. I'm so excited to read this one.

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
