Jill over at Breaking the Spine started this and I believe that it's awesome" This blog post is to alert those that visit about "the" book that we cannot wait to get our hands on.

OK!! talk about wicked cool covers that stick in your membrane and BURN BRIGHT is a perfect example. Then I read the synopsis and I was hooked. I so cannot wait to get my hands on this novel and devour it.

Burn Bright
Book One
by Marianne de Pierres

In Ixion music and party are our only beliefs. Darkness is our comfort. We have few rules but they are absolute . . .

Retra doesn’t want to go to Ixion, the island of ever-night, ever-youth and never-sleep. Retra is a Seal – sealed minds, sealed community. She doesn’t crave parties and pleasure, experience and freedom.

But her brother Joel left for Ixion two years ago, and Retra is determined to find him. Braving the intense pain of her obedience strip to escape the only home she’s ever known, Retra stows away on the barge that will take her to her brother.

When she can’t find Joel, Retra finds herself drawn deeper into the intoxicating world of Ixion. Come to me, whispers a voice in her head. Who are the Ripers, the mysterious guardians of Ixion? What are the Night Creatures Retra can see in the shadows? And what happens to those who grow too old for Ixion?

Retra will find that Ixion has its pleasures, but its secrets are deadly. Will friendship, and the creation of an eternal bond with a Riper, be enough to save her from the darkness? Listen well, baby bats. Burn bright, but do not stray from the paths. Remember, when you live in a place of darkness you also live with creatures of the dark.

  2. This is so trippy - because I JUST bought one of her books for a friend's birthday, (Nylon Angel). And you hardly ever see Marianne De Pierres' name mentioned anywwhere (Aussie Writer)....AND I just received a response from her about some of her books.....And I also just ordered a book from Abe books, one of her space opera books, and another book by her only available from Australia, called Sharp Shooter (written under her pen name Marianne Delacourt). I think there is another one or two YA books under the Delacourt name. I have to look to be sure, but I've had her trilogy (Starting with Nylon Angel) on my mind for a long time. It's a good book, you should check it out. There's Nylon Angel, Code Noir and Crash Deluxe - futuristic urban fantasy, kind of cyper punk set in Australia. I loved the trilogy.

Well - now I can't find the books I was thinking about (the ya books) so maybe Burn Bright is her first YA book. (?)

We would love to see what you have to say :)

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
