Synopsis

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

REVIEW

The Iron King was one of my favorite reads for this year so you could only imagine my delight as I settled in and got reacquainted with Julia Kagawa's world of faery magic, danger and love with The Iron Daughter.

It wasn't long before I was soon gripping my book for all it was worth because I was instantly swept away into Meghan's world of constant adventure. I was her never silent co-pilot as she maneuvered around from the Winter court to the Silicon Valley and all the places in between. The constant motion of this story was never ending and exciting and I could not ask for more. Meghan's moments with Ash are some of my favorites because they pulled on my emotions and made me twist in the wind better than any book that I have read in a while. Then just when I think I am okay with my everything another declares his emotions for Meghan and I am more confused than ever, although I knew it was coming. Ah, love is never easy.

One of the reasons I enjoy this series so much is because of it's unforgettable cast of characters: from the wicked Queen Mab to the eternally mischievous Puck. These players conjoined creates some of the best story lines around and the introduction of new characters only enhanced this story to make it shine. I commend Julie Kagawa for creating a story of Faery lore combined with a modern twist that is authentic and originally inventive and I cannot wait to see what the series conclusion will be. I only know that I want The Iron Queen NOW!! because the wait is killing me.

Although I adore this series and cannot wait for the next novel I have a bit of an issue with the lack of attention that was given to Meghan's new found ability. Where did she get it? What is she going to do with it and how will it effect her future and all of those around he?. I hope that It will all come out in the next novel, The Iron Queen, because I am a bit puzzled with the whole Pink Elephant factor in regards to what Meghan Chase is all about.

That being said, The Iron Daughter is still a favorite read and will always have my vote of approval. This is a highly recommend series for all ages and I know that it's fans will attest to this. So, if you haven't read this series yet then you need to and you will not be disappointed.

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
