REVIEW YYY

In this installment of the House of Night series, Tempted picks moments after the last novel. Zoey and her House of Night posse (including some nuns) are all a bit shaken after their encounter in banishing Kalona and Neferet. Unfortunately letting their guard down is not an option for they all know that the worst is yet to come. The only solution is getting back to the House of Night, a place that Zoey knows is home even though most of it inhabitants have chosen her enemy.

As plans are made, Zoey finds herself dealing with three male suitors all vying for her attention. Her Consort, her Warrior and her boyfriend. A fact that can seem a bit deja vu-ish, but plays itself out surprisingly well.

And just when Stevie Rae wants to confess a terrible burden to her BFF Zoey, she embroils herself in another situation that will forever change the course of her life, a secret that no one can imagine. A fact that her imprinted human Aphrodite, is somewhat aware of but she has little time to further explore this fact when she had a wicked vision that throughly shakes her to her core.

Aphrodite's visions are a warning to Zoey. She has wanted to deny her connection to A-ya and how it makes her feel about Kalona, but in her dreams she begins to doubt her resolve against him. Especially when past events are revealed that leave her more confused than ever before, but it soon becomes painfully apparent that Zoey no choice. If she does not seek Kalona and the truth he will make sure to exact the vengeance that he has constantly promised....or will he?

In Tempted secrets will be made and revealed, hearts will be broken and the unthinkable will happen...

This novel is an improvement from its series predecessor Hunted, but with elements that I still had issues with. I know that Zoey being in "charge" and always busy with an impending sitution may not have time, but she really does need to read up on her Vampyre history. It is a fact that always seems to be brought up, but nothing is ever done about it. I was relieved that Stevie confesses to her secret that has been hinted at for the last few novels and was going to scream if it did not come out. Those points being said, I admit that I wanted to read this book despite being sorely disappointed with Hunted, but the last 100 pages of Tempted had my complete attention. Now I am eager for the next installment called Burned, because I have no idea what direction this series will now take. It has an ending that will leaving you gasping.

  5. Good review - I've been getting kind of bored with these books lately, and they've been annoying me for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. I'm glad to hear this one is better, though, than its predecessors.
