Today I decided to try a new feature on my blog called AUDIBLY EDIBLE. This feature is about audio books that I have listened to, enjoyed and now recommend for your listening pleasure. Also, if anyone has any recommendations then I would love to hear about them.

I have a bit of a commute which takes up alot of my time; time that I could be reading. Instead of getting all bitter betty about it I try to use my 2+ hour daily commute time wisely. When I am not chatting on the phone (via bluetooth) I listen to audiobooks, lots and lots of them. I know that many do not care for this type of media for many reasons i.e. cost, convenience or just because. But for moi I really enjoy it and sometimes I will wait for the audio version of the book or will simply re-experience a book by listening to it.

GRACELING by Kristin Cashore
FULL CAST AUDIO Audiobook 6/1/09
Audio sample HERE from audible

For my first AUDBILY EDIBLE choice I am going to suggest GRACELING by Kristin Cashore. GRACELING was a book that I read and enjoyed last year and when I found out that it was on audio I could not resist the chance to experience it again. I was overjoyed to find out that it was a FULL CAST audio production, meaning that all the characters had distinctly different voices instead of having a sole reader. All I can say is WOW! if I enjoyed the story before I love it ten fold now. The story seems so much better, richer and entertaining. A definate must listen for those that enjoy audiobooks.

Another awesome blogger GreenBeanTeenQueen also raved about GRACELING on audio, and you can check out her post HERE

  1. Thanks for the great recommandation! I've read GreenBeanTeenQueen's review of the audiobook earlier and you guys has convinced me to buy Graceling on audio =D

  2. Great feature, I love the name! I also loved the Graceling audiobook. Full Casts are the best. Everyone was age appropriate so it sounded great.

  3. I started listening to it, was on chapter 12, but it didn't completely catch me. I bought the book, to give it a 2nd chance, and I must say I'm likeing the book better. Must be because you read at your own pace, and the AB rhythm was kinda slow for me.

I'll try to listen to it again though!

  5. I love this new feature!:) You know I'm a fan of audiobooks and I enjoyed this one. We just listened to Skulgduggery Pleasant which you should check out if you're looking for a good one on audio.

    Thanks for the shoutout!

  6. I've just gotten into audiobooks myself! (I also have a commute, but not quite as long as yours.) I enjoyed reading this and I bet it would be fantastic to listen to, with a full cast audio! You'll have to check out Fire, as well, when it's available--it should be another good audiobook :-)

BTW I recently discovered BookCloseouts.com and found a ton of audiobooks for pretty good prices...

We would love to see what you have to say :)

We would love to see what you have to say :)

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
