RWA Literacy Autographing and YA authors

Hey there!! I know that many readers like to visit and meet with their favorite authors. I know I do :) This year RWA (Romance Writers Association) is having their annual conference in Washington D.C.
On the first day they are hosting an author signing. The 2009 "Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing takes place on Wednesday, July 15, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Exhibit Hall. This event is open to the public; there is no admittance charge. Sales of books purchased at the event go to literacy charities, and we ask that you purchase books at the autographing rather than bring copies you already own.
There are going to be 500+ authors at this event and this list is located HERE I have been to these events before and it is alot of fun plotting who your going to see (because really...2 hours and 500+ authors, you gotta plan) and getting to chat with your favorite authors. Awesome...where else can you find that many authors under one roof. Now I know that some my not be interested in romance, but many YA authors that are coming out with books this year are going to be there, besides others that already have YA books published that we love.

Kelley Armstrong
Melissa Marr
Gena Showalter (new YA book Intertwined, this year)
Lili St. Crow (first YA book Strange Angels)
Rachel Vincent (first YA book My Soul To Take, this year)
Jackie Kessler (will have a YA book out next year, her first)
Kim Harrison ( first YA book Once Dead, Twice Shy)
Tara Lynn Childs
Michelle Rowen (first YA book Demon Princess, this year)
Jennifer Echols
Niki Burnham
Ally Carter
Rosemary Clement-Moore
Lucienne Diver
Marissa Doyle
Tina Ferraro
Julie Linker

So yeah!! loads of YA authors to meet and maybe a romance author or two that you have read along the way. I know I want to stop by and talk to all the new YA authors and ask about the transition from adult to YA. I cannot wait. I hope to see some of you there. Let me know if your going, for I would love to chat with you.
If anyone notices someone that is not on the list, please tell me and I will amend it ASAP. Thanks

  1. You forgot a few! I know this cuz some of those YAs you mentioned aren't on my list, lol.

Jennifer Echols, Niki Burnham, Ally Carter, Rosemary Clement-Moore, Lucienne Diver, Marissa Doyle, Tina Ferraro, Julie Linker, and some others. Work is ending soon, so can't browse through the rest right now.

Will come back later and actually read post. Only looked at your list, lolz.

  2. This sounds like a great event. I won't be able to go because I don't live in America but if you go, I hope you enjoy yourself :)

  3. I live in D.C. and I've been anticipating this for a while now! I will definitely be strategizing before I go and once I get there and get a floor plan.

  4. I am totally with you Jacqueline! My friends and I have to strategize. People think we are crazy but 2 hours is not enough time and you have to plan wisely.

  5. I know! I'm still a bit mad that it's only lasting 2 hrs on one day.

  6. I know...last year when I went I wanted to see Sherilyn Kenyon and spent nearly an hour waiting to see her. That only left me one hour to see everyone else and believe me, that was NOT enough time. So I have to see my newbies first and then if I have time to go back and see my favs.
*trying to figure out if the time flux capacitor is working so that we can extend the signing*
