One of the order's ancient enemies has resurfaced, searching for a treasure that the Templars have protected for hundreds of years -- a cursed mirror powerful enough to kill all of London's firstborn. To save her city from catastrophe, Billi will have to put her heart aside and make sacrifices greater than any of the Templars could have imagined.

Just when she reconciled herself to having feelings for a zombie -- her Homecoming date Tommy Williams -- her friend Adam is murdered taking a bullet that was meant for her. Things get even more confusing when Adam comes back from the grave. Now she has romantic interest in two dead boys; one who saved her life, and one she can't seem to live without.

GIRL IN THE ARENA
LISE HAINES
Reading level: Young Adult
Hardcover: 336 pages
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Children's Books (October 13, 2009)

It’s a fight to the death on live TV when a gladiator’s daughter steps into the arena
Lyn is a modern gladiator’s daughter, through and through, and the rules of the Gladiator Sports Association are second nature to her family. Always lend ineffable confidence to the gladiator. Remind him constantly of his victories. And most importantly: never leave the stadium when your father is dying. The rules help the family survive, but rules can also turn against you. When a gifted young fighter, Uber, kills Lyn’s seventh father, he also captures Lyn’s dowry bracelet—which means she must marry him. To win her freedom, Lyn will enter the arena to face her father’s murderer in mortal combat. And she’ll do it even though she may be falling for him. For fans of The Hunger Games and Fight Club, Girl in the Arena is a mesmerizing look at a world addicted to violence—a world that’s disturbingly easy to believe in.
