He He Helllllo!!! I have been most fortunate in getting an extra copy of PRADA & PREJUDICE by Mandy Hubbard. It is a really cute story and I am a sucker for a great pair of shoes. I know that someone will be very happy to read it and enjoy it as much as I have. So I am hosting a contest and it is really easy peasy....how easy peasy?? Well just check it out.

Here are the rules:
1) +1 if you follow me or already follow me
2) +3 post the contest on your blog or side bar
3) +5 if you tell me your most outrageous shoe story every. It can be anything from...your most expensive splurge to keeping that ratty old pair of shoes since high school. I want to hear it all and the best story, not only gets the book but a bonus prize. The runners up gets some schwag I have acquired.
4) Contest ENDS June 5th midnight and it will be mailed out on June 6th

JUST TO CLARIFY THINGS!!! THIS CONTEST IS ON A POINT SYSTEM AND IF I RECIEVE MULTIPLE ENTRIES WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF POINTS THEN I WILL USE THE RANDOM GENERATOR TO PICK THE PERSON WHO WINS, BUT IF THERE ARE SOME GREAT STORIES WHO DON'T WIN THEN I WILL ALSO SEND THEM SOME SURPRISE SHWAG!!!

So in all fairness I will share with you my beloved damsel in distress shoe story. I was with a group of friend in Las Vegas and we were all awaiting our ride to come and pick us up. It was hot, 114 degrees hot and we had had to wait for a while and I was in my beloved plasic sandals (white with a kitten heel). As the van pulled up and I got excited and tried to do my happy snoopy dance. I realized that I was stuck. I could not for the life of me move my feet. It was as if I was glued to the floor....and I WAS. As I stared down at my shoes, they had actually begun to melt. I tried to lift my shoe and it appeared as if I had copious amounts of gum stretching from the bottom of my shoe.

I could not believe it...there I was in Vegas in one of the hottest days of my life and my new shoes were ruined. Luckily one of my friends carried me from the parking lot into the car because my shoes had to stay behind stuck to asphalt. I still mourn the loss of those shoes. It was the best $1.99 I ever spent.....may they rest in melted peace

-I think it was a week ago more or less. I was with some friends in a party and I was wearing a new pair of white heels (I love them). In the party some friends drunk some alcohol and there was a boy who was a feeling a bit dizzy so he was sitting in the sofa. The funny thing (well not for me) is that while I was walking by his side he vomited. At least I had an other pair of shoes to wear.
Luckily I cleaned my white heels and now they are as if nothing had happened.

Not sure my story is real outrageous, but I once went to work in black shoes with a brown dress. At home, in my lights, the dress appeared black, but a work, in the flourescent lights, it was a very dark brown. Felt like a fool all day, but none of my teacher friends made fun.

-My shoe story isn't great, but I'm a girl that usually only wears sneakers or flip flops. Has a lot to do with me not having any balance at all, and tripping even barefooted. When I went to a job interview at a hospital, I decided to get a pair of shoes with a lil bit of a heel. It wasn't a big heel, enough where I could walk in just fine. I started going towards the front door and step up on the curve, and somehow my shoe went sideways, I went flying right into the side of the big window of the building. To make matters better: I was at the wrong building, so no one at the potentail job (that I didn't get) saw me look like an idiot.

Hm, the most outrageous shoe story I have is that a few months ago, I was really into sneakers and I was so into them that I was ready to buy a $400 pair of nikes. I was just short like a $100 or something but I really was going to get them. And now that I think about it, I was crazy! $400 could get me so much...and I wanted to waste it on a pair of shoes.

Ok, I'm kinda ashamed to admit this, but I'll tell it anyways. I got these really awesome pair of hiking boots (I go camping a lot) and one night I was sitting in front of the fire. The bottom of the shoes melted! The most pathetic thing is that even though they are too uncomfortable to walk in now, I still have them put away in my closet.

About a month ago, my friends and I went to the mall. I saw these really cute pair of high heeled shoes and I decided to try them on just for fun. After walking around in them for about 30 seconds, the heel got caught in the floor, I feel, slightly twisted my ankle, and the heel broke. I had to pay for them.

I don't have any fun shoe stories but I do have a horrible one. A few years ago I bought the cutest pair of canvas sneakers with this adorable print. I decided to wear them for the first time to the amusement park. About 30 minutes in I realized they caused blisters. Youch! I spent the rest of the day there basically limping around. They went to Goodwill the next day and I feel sorry for whoever got them. They were so cute though! Sigh.

+5 My shoe story - My dear mother (who is now deceased, bless her soul!) was a real character. She always made us laugh (and sometimes cringe). When I was a child, she went to a PTA meeting at my school, She was running late as usual and walked into the meeting after it had started. About halfway through the meeting, she looked down at her feet and realized that she had two different colored shoes on - one black and one beige colored. Not only were the shoes two different colors, they were also two different styles! My mother, being the lady she was and also the wonderful mom she was, just laughed it off and went on with the meeting.

Well, this isn't a very good story (yours is hilarious) but one day my family and I went on a lat-minute hike to an area where we weren't familiar with. I was in a rush so when we were getting ready to go I grabbed my new Pumas - a very bad choice. While we were on the trail we came across a muddy section. My parents and (younger!) brother passed by without a problem but when it was my time to cross I panicked. Each one of my family members were yelling a different set of directions at me, trying to be helpful, so I randomly stepped on a patch of grass om front of me that looked safe. How wrong I was. My shoes were COVERED in mud when I crossed, and to make matters worse, we got lost and I end up walking for almost TWO hours in those sneakers.

Okay, this happened back in 2007. I went to a convention called Fan Expo (mix of anime, horror, comics, and gaming events) with a friend and his friend's nephew, David. I wore these sandals throughout the day. It killed and my feet were sweating so badly.

So we came back to my place when my friend dropped me off. Both came in to say hi to my family. I wanted to get David's email address. So I slipped out of my sandals to get some paper and pen. Then you hear my mom go, "Oh my god Diana, you're dirtying the floor!!". I ignored it when I went to the kitchen. When I came back out, I saw a trail of a combination of sweat and dirt footprints. My friend and David saw this. It was so freaking humiliating that every time I think of it (like now), I die in embarrassment.

    +5 shoe story:
After college in 1992, I would stock up on clothes from Filene's Basement. I found these tall black woven leather 3 to 4 inch wedges which I thought were fabulous since I'm only 5 foot 2. I didn't much remember but I apparently wore them all over Boston and everywhere I would go! I had forgotten about them completely but an old friend that I hadn't seen in 7 years totally remembered - they thought it was my way of trying to reach their shoulder height! Ugh...

+5 My shoe story is really embarrassing. My friend had given me a pair of white shoes which I kept in a box for a long time because I had no where to wear it to. Then one day I wore a white dress to work and thought my shoes would go perfectly with it. Around lunch time I began to notice that there were white powder everywhere I walked. I had kept my shoes so long, it was beginning to disintergrate. With each step, the shoe cracked and flaked on the ground! By afternoon, one of the soles had fallen out. Since I live really far from my workplace and going barefoot was not an option, I used masking tape to hold my shoe together. I walked really gingerly the whole day and thankfully made it home in one piece. I tossed the shoes away and the odd part was no one noticed that I had masking tape on my shoe the whole afternoon!

+5 An outrageous shoe story could be anything that has to do with my precious black heels with the rhinestone buckle and the s-shaped strap. I love those heels to death - they make my legs look thinner, go with everything, and can showcase my feet like no other. BUT here's the problem with them - I have yet to have a normal day out wearing the heels.

    Incident # 1 - Spring Formal
I wore these to my spring formal, and the band started playing this really awesome jazz number, so we all dancing with greater fervor. Resulting in my slicing my leg open with my own beloved heel. Was rushed to emergency room and got stitches - the scar's still there.

    Incident # 2 - My Best Friend's Wedding
Of course, I had to wear them to my friend's wedding. It went so well with my black and white bridesmaids' dress! However, in the middle of the ceremony, my friend (another bridesmaid) noticed that my heel was a little crooked. So she tried subtly kicking it back into place. I didn't see it coming - so her kicks landed me straight onto the officiator. Right in the middle of "Speak now or forever hold your peace". My friend joked about it at the reception: "Gosh, I didn't know you felt that way about me."

    Incident # 3 - The Breakdown
So after all that, I still wore this to another important event - my grandmother's 90th. It was one of those really fancy hotel/restaurants that frown upon you if you're not wearing a jacket (for men) or a dress (for women). So I went wearing my snazzy new black cocktail dress. And the now-dreaded heels.
I'll skip right to the bad part - got the bottom of the heel got stuck in the table cloth, and about half of the table got upended on the floor. I also broke the shoe and had to limp all the way back to my car (in shame) with the straps held between my toes.

Did I learn anything from all this? Nope. I took the shoes to a cobbler the next day and had them fixed back to new. I'll wear them again, too =P

I bought these super cute high heels for this thing I won off the radio--it was a "flyaway" to see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Texas. So we're walking up the stairs getting onto the plane, and my heel got stuck in the metal grating. I panicked and yanked my foot out so hard, that I fell backward onto my husband, causing him to fall and knock 3 other people down the stairs. No one was thankfully hurt, but I felt so mortified that I did that and now I'm terrified to walk over anything that I can get my heel stuck in!

#3- The craziest shoe story I can think of reminds me a lot of a Friends episode when Monica splurges on some beautiful boots, but they end up killing her feet. I have had 3 surgeries on my right foot, and as such have had a hard time finding shoes that fit. It is a big blow to someone like me who loves heels and loves loves LOVES shoes.

So I was at this store and tried on a pair of heels. They actually fit pretty well and walking around the store felt great. They were this crocodile patterned leather, chocolate brown heels with a sling back strap. Sigh. I spent nearly 200 dollars on them thinking they would be great for my hurt foot.

I wore them to a friend's wedding a month later and oh let me tell you how awful they were! To this day I only wear them if I know I will be spending most of my time sitting down, like the movies or out to dinner.

Thanks for the contest! I am so excited to read Prada and Prejudice!

I have a pair of bright green Docs that I've had since high school. Bright green. But they are broken in and comfortable and I'd rather wear them than any other shoes. I feel the most like me in those boots. But they are seriously bright green. No outfit can tone them down.

When I was about 8 I had just gotten a new pair of bright pink canvas sneakers. I wore them to bed because I just loved the soooo much!

I got up to go pee during the night. My foot got caught in the blankets and I toppled over the side of the top bunk. I broke my left foot. I got a matching hot pink cast to match my right, bright pink shoe.

When I got the cast off I couldn't wear the left shoe because the right shoe had faded and was soo worn out.

All that for a pair of new shoes! But hey, they were bright pink!

My shoe story happened when I was little. I have an older sister who worked at a barn to help pay for her horse board.
    That said...
My sister was old enough to drive, and I had gone with her to the shoe store. There was a smell of foot odor in the air. Well I thought it was a boy that was sitting next to us. So I said. Wooooooooooooooo somebody's feet sure do smell.... ohhhhhhhhhhhhh my........ that is a nasty smellllllllllllllllllll. My sister started to turn red and **gibbs smacked my head**. I had no idea it was her and her boots. When I figured out it was her I couldn't stop laughing.. to this day when evah this story is mentioned we laugh so hard it is like a pimp moment.... ohhh my sides are starting to hurt.
Maybe it was a you had to be there story ..

My best shoe fiasco came when I was a bridesmaid for my best friend's wedding. She had us by these strappy white sandals so we would all match. Now, I'm not one for strappy sandals, but I smiled and wore them anyway for her.

Anyway, the reception was on her extensive property. So here's us three bridesmaids standing in the recieving line with plastic smiles on our faces and these shoes. Well, after standing there for two hours, our spike heels had slowly sunk into the soft grass. But being new to these type of shoes, I hadn't realized that. So after the line broke up I tried to take a step forward and nearly faceplanted in the grass! Needless to say, I went barefoot for the remainder of the reception.

+5 My most outrageous shoe story is from when I was very little. I was shopping with my mom and grandma and I really wanted a pair of jelly shoes. They were very popular with little kids back in the early nineties and I just wanted a pair so I could be cool like everyone else. My mom refused to get them so I threw a huge tantrum. My mom actually made me leave the store with my grandma so she could pay for her stuff. When she came out to the car she showed me my new shoes. She had given in and bought them for me. As it turned out, they were the most uncomfortable shoes ever but I had to wear them because my mom had bought them for me. It was horrible.

Hmm, I can't compete with everyone else's shoe story (especially dissectingperfection's stories...damn, three incidents and she's still walking around in them! lol.) but here's mine: I hate shopping unless it's for books. I was grumpy one day because unlike me, my mother LOVES shopping and drags me to stores. So one day we're walking around in the shoe section of Kohl's and we spy a 90% discount. Immediately, we rushed over and there were five beautiful sets of high heels-all different colors and styles-and all in my size! I was like, no way, it can't be! So I tried each pair and they all fit me perfectly and made my legs look great. The best part was that not one pair was over nine dollars. NINE DOLLARS! I scooped up the shoes, bought them and walked away happier than my mother.

In the party some friends drunk some alcohol and there was a boy who was a feeling a bit dizzy so he was sitting in the sofa. The funny thing (well not for me) is that while I was walking by his side he vomited. At least I had an other pair of shoes to wear.

Sigh.

Not sure my story is real outrageous, but I once went to work in black shoes with a brown dress. At home, in my lights, the dress appeared black, but a work, in the flourescent lights, it was a very dark brown. Felt like a fool all day, but none of my teacher friends made fun.

Sigh.

When I was a child, she went to a PTA meeting at my school, She was running late as usual and walked into the meeting after it had started. About halfway through the meeting, she looked down at her feet and realized that she had two different colored shoes on - one black and one beige colored.

I post the contest on my sidebar.

I was wearing this soooo cute wedges once and because they look so great, I decided to keep them on when we went to get a friend's dog on someone's farm she knew.

I got MUD all over the shoes. I was so close to crying!! Needless to say, they were totally ruined. Uggggh.

+5 My most 'outrageous' shoe story was when my Grandpa was very sick and I went for a walk with my family and him but I could not walk very well because I was very pretty high heels. So it was funny and made my Grandpa smile.

Aww! I could use a cute story to go between my boring summer reading books for AP English.

I follow you.

  1. Um, so is this a random contest or a "best story wins" contest? Cuz if it's the latter, you can't really have extra entries, unfortunately...

    - And one time I was at the mall with my mom and I needed shoes for a party. So we go to this store with a huge sale. It was an absolute zoo. Thankfully we snatched the last pair of the shoes we wanted.
