In My Mailbox Week 2

In My Mailbox explores the contents of my mailbox on a weekly basis. The only items I will mention are my beloved books. If you would like to participate and have your own “In My Mailbox” post, you can find more information here at the Story Siren.

These are the more exciting items that I recieved this week. I cannot wait to delve into them with a nice steamy cup of cocoa.

Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side

The undead can really screw up your senior year . . .

Marrying a vampire definitely doesn't fit into Jessica Packwood's senior year "get-a-life" plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth—and he's her long-lost fiancé. Armed with newfound confidence and a copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire's Guide to Dating, Health, and Emotions, Jessica makes a dramatic transition from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But when a devious cheerleader sets her sights on Lucius, Jess finds herself fighting to win back her wayward prince, stop a global vampire war—and save Lucius's soul from eternal destruction .
Deadly Little Secret

Some secrets should not be kept...

Up until three months ago, everything in sixteen-year-old Camelia's life had been fairly ordinary: decent grades; an okay relationship with her parents; and a pretty cool part-time job at the art studio downtown. But when Ben, the mysterious new guy, starts junior year at her high school, Camelia's life becomes anything but ordinary.
Rumored to be somehow responsible for his ex-girlfriend's accidental death, Ben is immediately ostracized by everyone on campus. Except for Camelia. She's reluctant to believe the rumors, even when her friends try to convince her otherwise. She's inexplicably drawn to Ben...and to his touch. But soon, Camelia is receiving eerie phone calls and strange packages with threatening notes. Ben insists she is in danger, and that he can help--but can he be trusted? She knows he's hiding something... but he's not the only one with a secret.
Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica George

A tale of twelve princesses doomed to dance until dawn… Galen is a young soldier returning from war; Rose is one of twelve princesses condemned to dance each night for the King Under Stone. Together Galen and Rose will search for a way to break the curse that forces the princesses to dance at the midnight balls. All they need is one invisibility cloak, a black wool chain knit with enchanted silver needles, and that most critical ingredient of all—true love—to conquer their foes in the dark halls below. But malevolent forces are working against them above ground as well, and as cruel as the King Under Stone has seemed, his wrath is mere irritation compared to the evil that awaits Galen and Rose in the brighter world above.
The Amaranth Enchantment by Julie Berry (ARC)

A delightful fairytale by a lyrical new voice.
When Lucinda Chapdelaine was a small child, her parents left for the royal ball and never returned. Ever since, Lucinda has been stuck in perpetual servitude at her evil aunt’s jewelry store. Then, on the very same day, a mysterious visitor and an even more bizarre piece of jewelry both enter the shop, setting in motion a string of twists and turns that will forever alter Lucinda’s path. In this magical story filled with delightful surprises, Lucinda will dance at the royal ball, fall under the Amaranth Witch’s spell, avenge her parents’ death, and maybe—just maybe—capture the heart of a prince

Do you really like historical fiction (as in medieval princesses, knights, pirates, and the like)? I love books set in those time periods, especially if its an adventure with a nice romance mingled in. :)

I find that I am sucker for romance with an edge, either for the ahhhh moments between a boy and a girl or the romanctic time period involved. I cannot wait to read these books and will start with Deadly Little Secrets

  4. They all look interesting (especially Deadly Little Secrets and Princess of the Midnight Ball).

Do you really like historical fiction (as in medieval princesses, knights, pirates, and the like)? I love books set in those time periods, especially if its an adventure with a nice romance mingled in. :)

  5. Deadly Little Secrets is amazing. I really hope you enjoy it! I want Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side. I think it sounds like a lot of fun!!!

  7. I read all the blurbs for these books and wanted them. Dirty Little Secrets sounded amazing. I have to admit that I stood in the bookstore wanting to read the first few pages and ended up reading 3 chapters. LOL!!

I find that I am sucker for romance with an edge, either for the ahhhh moments between a boy and a girl or the romanctic time period involved. I cannot wait to read these books and will start with Deadly Little Secrets

  8. Loved Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side. Better than I had expected. I have the Amaranth Enchantment somewhere in my pile (but oh where...). And really, really want to read Deadly Little Secret. But I'm immersed in Peeps for the Westerfeld challenge at the moment...

  9. I will have to reed Peeps soon. I have it bumped up on my TBR list. Hopefully before the endo of this month. :)

  10. The covers on the second two are beautiful. I love Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side. It is one of my favorite vampire novels now. I also enjoyed Deadly Little Secret. Congrats on acquiring them.

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
